Our new sisters during initiation. 2 B eta Sigma Chapter has had a busy fall semester full of welcoming a new member class, strengthening our sisterhood, and cherishing every moment spent together here at Purdue. Soon after moving back on campus, we dove straight into recruitment activities led by Lindsey Home '21. After four rounds of primary recruitment, we welcomed 44 new members in our "Honk for Sigma Kappa" Bid Day celebration. We continued to expand our sisterhood through continuous open bidding for a grand total of 46 members in MC 2024. Kaitlyn Carpenter '23 spent the semester guiding these members in their Promise Program leading up to initiation on October 27. In addition to recruitment, our chapter has held a wide range of events, including barn dance at Wea Creek Orchard, a sisterhood retreat to a local wildlife conservation park, Big/Little Reveal, a "Dude's Day" celebration on Parent's Weekend, and a tailgate welcoming over 40 alumnae back to campus! Throughout the semester, our members have also made impressive philanthropic achievements, most notably through our participation in the Greater Lafayette Walk to End Alzheimer's. Organized by our vice president of philanthropy and service, Lydia Jones '22, our walk page earned over $21,000 in donations—a new record for Beta Sigma! We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to leave such a profound impact on Alzheimer's disease research on behalf of Sigma Kappa. Our most recent event was our Founders' Day celebration in honor of Sigma Kappa's 150th birthday! Katie Gold '22 planned a celebration consisting of music, food, and writing letters to sisters. We are excited to see what the upcoming year holds for our chapter and can't wait to experience growth in new ways. Other achievements include being awarded a 3 Star Standards of Excellence Award at the 2024 Sigma Kappa National Convention and maintaining a 3.39 total GPA. As the semester comes to a close, we look forward to electing a new group of chapter officers and enjoying the holiday season with one another! Each time I walked in the house during recruitment, I saw how tight-knit the house was and I knew I belonged." –Jill Kender '24
