Page 4 S pring 2024 was a monumental period for Florida Epsilon Chapter. After welcoming 37 members, our Chapter made significant strides in nearly every facet, reflecting our dedication to brotherhood, community service, and excellence. Notably, we were able to host the most events in a single semester in our Chapter's history—a testament to the distinguished relationship we have built with IFC. STARTING NEW TRADITIONS Our first-ever alumni weekend, where we welcomed alumni to enjoy our rental at Bowden's at College Town (newly established by a fellow SigEp) preceding our annual SigEp Golf Classic Tournament, was a great success. Brothers Grant Urie '27 and Trey Parker '26 shot an extremely impressive ten-under to take home the third-annual SigEp Classic Title. We are proud to announce that we raised over $12,000 through this philanthropy and another $13,000 through our SigEp Queen of Hearts competition, where we crowned Samantha Hotaling, a sister of Tri Delta. All proceeds were generously donated to the FSU Collegiate Veterans Association, which supports our student veterans and raises awareness for veteran hardships. In a pioneering effort, we hosted our first joint-programming event with Alpha Delta Pi; it focused on the Live Your Oath sexual assault prevention campaign. A guest speaker helped us emphasize the importance of awareness and prevention of sexual assault. Members of our chapters signed and pledged an oath to prevent and stop college sexual assaults, highlighting our commitment to fostering a safe and respectful campus environment for all students. Also for the first time, we organized an Epsilon trip to Disney—an unforgettable memory for our graduating class. BRINGING HOME THE HARDWARE In the hopes of filling our trophy displays, our Chapter completely dominated the yearly Pursuit of Excellence Awards Ceremony, taking home an outstanding five of nine Chapter awards across all 18 fraternities at Florida State. Among these awards, we were recognized as IFC Chapter of the Year. Others were the Leadership Development and Learning, Outstanding New Member Education, Culture of Wellbeing, and Operational Excellence awards. Moreover, our former president, Gabriel Rutois '24, was inducted into the FSU Greek Hall of Fame; Malik Dabor '24, U.S. Army Veteran, earned New Member of the Year; and our very own Resident Scholar, J.J. Bishop, University of South Carolina '22, earned Chapter Advisor of the Year. Additionally, brothers Gavin Smith '24 and Javier Victores '25 were recognized at the FSU Veterans Military Ball, receiving the Guidon Award for their strong commitment to our country's veterans. Other awards earned by our Chapter this semester include a first-place victory at the LineDance Dueling DJs competition (represented by brothers Gavin Brunson '26 and Gavin Smith '24), a first-place victory at the LineDance Delegate Talent Show (represented by brothers of Alpha Alpha class), and victory as all- campus softball champions. GETTING READY FOR A FALL REPEAT This was a remarkable period for Florida Epsilon. Our achievements are a demonstration of our unwavering commitment to being balanced men, separating us from every other Fraternity on campus. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our incredible Alumni and Volunteer Corporation, our past Executive Boards, and every brother who has contributed to making us the strong Chapter we are today. We look forward to building on this success and continuing to make a positive impact in the semesters to come. Fraternally, Kyle Lam '26 Vice President of Communications kl22c@fsu.edu (224) 339-1922 Florida Epsilon raked in the awards at the 2024 Fraternity and Sorority Life Pursuit of Excellence Awards Ceremony.
