5 Coming from Topeka, Kansas, Turner Seals '24 was attracted to KU for several reasons: He had been admitted into the University Honors Program and was excited about the opportunities it offered. Both of his older brothers had begun college out of state and eventually transferred to the university, so he thought he'd skip a step and go straight there. "Most importantly, though, was my bid to Beta and knowing I'd have a system to make friends and grow as a person even during the pandemic years." Turner wanted to be surrounded by fun and ambitious people, which he knew Beta Theta Pi would offer. During his time in Alpha Nu, he served as house manager, in which he learned the importance of timely communication, as well as sustainability chairman, in which he learned the importance of institutionalizing programs. Outside of Beta, Turner has remained involved on campus. Earlier in his undergraduate career, he was involved in KU TPE (Transition to Postsecondary Education) and different business school organizations. "As I became an upperclassman, I've urged younger Betas to get involved on campus, as I'm a strong believer that you may learn more outside of the classroom than inside." Turner has been most involved with Student Senate. As he became more involved his junior year, he knew he'd be able to make the most impact if he ran for student body president—the role in which he now serves. "My experience as student body president has been filled with personal growth and struggle, but overall, I'm proud of my time," he shared. "Although the experience hasn't been fun every day, as I look back, it is one of the most influential parts of my time in college. For that I am thankful." Turner is proud to have made the most of his four years in college. "I've gained professional experience through multiple internships, studied abroad on two different occasions, and gained leadership experience on campus, all while growing closer to my family and gaining friends that will last me a lifetime. I'm extremely grateful for my experience and the people I've shared it with." Turner will be graduating with a degree in finance and plans to move to New York City to work as an investment banking analyst at Lincoln International in July. Being surrounded by people with so many different talents and skills has motivated me to push myself to be a better person."
