Ties to Tau page 2 I am originally from Dallas, Texas, and am a senior triple majoring in finance, economics, and risk management and insurance at Iowa's Tippie College of Business. I will be graduating this May. I have been on the rowing team all four years of college. I was a talent transfer recruited during my senior year of high school but did not get an official visit due to COVID-19. In high school, I played varsity and club volleyball until I had a season-ending shoulder injury my senior year. My doctor told me it was best to not pursue volleyball at the collegiate level due to the unpredictability of shoulder movement. I am an active person and have played sports all my life, so I started looking for other options to try. An Iowa rowing coach reached out to me after my acceptance to the university. Two of my younger sisters have rowed for the past few years, so I was somewhat familiar with the sport. Rowing has been incredibly helpful for my shoulder because it utilizes more back and leg muscles. Building muscles around my shoulder has also prevented any further injury over the last four years. I am surrounded by athletes at rowing, students in the classroom, and genuine people in DG. Delta Gamma has given me the most well- rounded college experience. This is why the best thing about Delta Gamma is the people. Joining in fall 2020 meant my member class did not get to experience a lot of in-person events, but that just made us appreciate and cherish our sisterhood and our activities once we were able to bring them back. Balancing 20 hours a week of rowing practice, 15 semester hours of classes, and DG events is no easy feat! I am fortunate that my sorority sisters are incredibly understanding of my schedule, and so long as I submit excuse forms, I have been able to be stress-free about missing events and do my best to still attend everything I can. I knew Delta Gamma would give me what I was looking for because the group is genuine and down-to- earth." –Ellen Lee '23 "I joined because when I first met the girls at bowling night, I felt comfortable instantly.
