T ri Delta bonds are woven through shared experiences, cherished memories, and lifelong relationships. For Cynthia Holdren Simpson '90, that connection started earlier than most. "When I think back to why I joined, it really comes down to my mom," Cynthia shared. "She was a Tri Delt at Mizzou, so it was a matter of family tradition for me." This familial tie laid the groundwork for friendships, career success, and personal growth. Recalling her time with Delta Xi, Cynthia remembers an era of success. "We had a strong reputation on campus, and I always felt proud of our achievements, especially during Greek Week and Homecoming." Her role as treasurer during her senior year further solidified her commitment to service and leadership within the chapter. With a degree in finance from Mizzou, Cynthia embarked on her career journey, eventually rising to the position of Chief Administrative Officer within the Institutional Banking division at UMB Bank in Kansas City. "My sorority experience played a significant role in shaping my professional aspirations," she said. "It opened doors and introduced me to invaluable connections." After suffering a personal loss, Cynthia found solace in giving back to her sorority by serving as the financial advisor. "Losing my friend and pledge sister, Kim Lewis Yates '90, in 2021 was a turning point for me," Cynthia shared. "I knew I wanted to honor her memory by contributing to something meaningful." Her desire to ensure the chapter's financial health now stems from a focus to empower our women to accomplish great things with Tri Delta. "These four years are so fun and go so fast; I want the chapter and it's leadership to be able to do everything they dream up!" Cynthia has nothing but admiration for the current members of Delta Xi and their dedication and passion. "It's truly inspiring." When it comes to staying connected, Cynthia treasures the bond she shares with her close- knit group of sisters. "We have a group text we affectionately call 'My Peeps,'" she laughed. "We're in constant touch, from morning till night, sharing laughs and memories, and supporting each other through life's ups and downs." Beyond her professional and sorority commitments, Cynthia finds joy in family life in Prairie Village, Kansas, alongside her husband, Jon Bartek, and their blended family of four adult children. As empty nesters, they embrace newfound freedom, often indulging in adventures with their beloved lab puppy Lola by their side. To fellow alumnae contemplating reconnection or volunteerism, Cynthia offers these encouraging words: "The rewards of giving back to our sisterhood are immeasurable. It's a chance to make a difference and leave a lasting impact."
