The Town was awarded $971,308 in May 2022 from the AZ State Parks and the Land, Water and Conservation Fun (LWCXF) to construct improve- ments to the Town Park consisting of a Splash Pad Installation, Shade Sail Structure, Restroom Structure with Equipment Room, concrete pave- ments, curbs, seat walls, site furni- ture installation, playground safety surfacing, chain link fence, septic tank and leach fi eld, electrical work, and lighting, and RV camp host site. Splash pad update Unitizing the council approved fi - nal design documents and technical specifi cations prepared by Dale Mill- er of RICK Engineering, the Town advertised for bids and received two bids to construct the project. Both bids exceeded the grant amount. The Town requested an additional $28,692 in grant funds from AZ State Parks. They anticipate the LWCF por- tion of these funds will be approved in the next few months. The Town has replaced the Shad Sails with a metal frame, a 40 ft. hexagonal shad structure and deleted the Camp host site work in order to complete the project within the available funds. The Town has opted to negotiate the bid price with DWD and reduce the scope of the project to utilize, but not exceed the available grant monies. Construction to begin within 120 days from fi nal approval which is expected in about 30 days. Under consideration is to add back the shade sails and RV camp host in another budget cycle.
