The Red Cross members included Jillian Attaway, Pat Hearn, Eligio Rivas, and Lois Dupre. From La Paz County were Supervisors Duce Minor, Holly Irwin, Dave Plunkett and Emergency Management Troy Mead. March is Red Cross Month The Proclamation states, "Whereas, during American Red Cross Month in March, we recog- nize the compassion of people in La Paz County and reaffi rm our com- mitment to care for one another in times of crisis, and Whereas, this generous spirit is woven into the fabric of our community and ad- vances the humanitarian legacy of American Red Cross founder Clara Barton, one of the most honored women in our country's history, who nobly dedicated herself to al- leviating suffering, and Whereas, today, kindhearted individuals in our community exemplify Barton's commitment as they step up through the Arizona and New Mexico Re- gion to provide a beacon of hope for our neighbors in need and through their voluntary and selfl ess contri- butions, they make a lifesaving dif- ference in people's darkest hours, whether it's delivering shelter, food and comfort during disasters; pro- viding critical blood donations for hospital patients; supporting mili- tary families, veterans and caregiv- ers through the unique challenges of service; saving lives with fi rst aid, CPR and other skills; or delivering ad and reconnecting loved ones separated by global crises, Now, therefore, the Board of Supervisors of La Paz County, hereby proclaims the month of March 2024 as RED CROSS MONTH in honor of all those who lead with their hearts to serve people in need, and we ask ev- eryone to join in this commitment to strengthen our community. Lois Dupre, President A Big Thanks for the Clean-Up in the Gardens By Joanne Winer Celia's Rainbow Gardens had a big group of volunteers from two differ- ent clubs come out to the Gardens last week to do a clean-up, and it was a great thing for the Gardens! One group was from the Rock and Gem Club, organized by Jerri Solo- mon from the club and the other was organized by Gerry Singer of Quartzsite Friends of the Sonoran Desert and Meet in Q groups. Everyone brought their own rakes and shovels and lots of enthusi- asm for helping the Gardens to look its best by cleaning up all the dead plants and weeds and garbage. Town worker Christopher helped get the trash hauled away after ev- eryone was fi nished. This is exactly what the Gardens needed since I have been unable to do a lot of the work anymore and have to run my store full time. It has always been hoped that some volun- teers and groups would get involved and I hope this is just the beginning of community involvement. Thanks to every one of you who did this for me, the Gardens and the town. Town of Quartzsite will host their annual Easter Egg Hunt on Satur- day, March 30th at the Baseball Field at Town Park. The fun starts at 10:00am. There will be games, Golden Egg Prizes, Scavenger Hunt and Pictures with Jack the Rabbit. Join for some egg- citing fun!
