Council and Plan- ning and Zoning Commission held a joint workshop January 3rd to dis- cuss the General Plan revisions and the new vision statement. The 2014 General Plan's Vision Statement was, "Quartzsite is a unique place-a family oriented hometown for fun loving, friendly, and indepen- dent people of all ages and economical levels. This full service, diverse community offers medical, educational, and employment opportunities and safe neighborhoods. It is a place where individuals, families, retirees, and quality businesses are all welcome and feel part of." The New 2024 Vision Statement reads, "The vision of the Town of Quartzsite is to cultivate a resilient community which provides residents with quality of life, accessible medical services, valuable education, af- fordable housing, and job opportunities while maintaining a rural char- acter, preserving our rich history and unique desert environment. We welcome our visitors." Council approved the new version unanimously. Arizona state law (ARS 9-461-05A) requires that each municipality adopt a comprehensive, long-range General Plan to guide the physical develop- ment of their community. According to the Town's website, "Vision 2024 will be Quartzsite's General Plan. It is a guiding document for the future of Quartzsite, creating a vision for where we want to be in 10 years." To view the 2024 fi rst draft, and previous General Plans visit: https://www. ci.quartzsite.az.us/community/2024_general_plan.php#outer-2030. Voters will be asked to approve the plan in the General Election on No- vember 4, 2024. New Town Vision Statement
