"It was an honor to have former Secretary of State Bayless join me in hosting this event and show biparti- sanship as we kick-off this election cycle," Fontes said. The Presidential Preference Elec- tion (PPE), which will be on March 19, 2024, is a unique election that allows voters who are members of participating political parties to choose their preferred presidential candidate. A total of 16 candidates fi led to participate in this election by the Dec. 11 deadline – seven Democratic candidates and nine Republican candidates. Arizona Revised Statutes § 16- 245(B) require the Secretary of State to determine the order in which cer- tifi ed candidate names will appear on the ballot by "lots drawn." Fon- tes and Bayless randomly selected the ballot order at 11 a.m., using a ball draw machine similar to those used in lotteries. Candidates will appear on ballots in the following order: FOR THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY: 1) Lozada, Frankie 2) Cornejo, Gabriel 3) Williamson, Marianne 4) Palmer, Jason 5) Lyons, Stephen 6) Biden, Jr., Joseph R. 7) Phillips, Dean FOR THE REPUBLICAN PARTY: 1) Christie, Chris 2) Ramaswamy, Vivek 3) Castro, John Anthony 4) Stuckenberg, David 5) Hutchinson, Asa 6) Haley, Nikki 7) Trump, Donald J. 8) Binkley, Ryan L. 9) DeSantis, Ron Only voters who are members of the participating political parties will be eligible to vote for their pre- ferred presidential candidate in the March PPE. Voters registered as Republicans or Democrats on or be- fore February 20, 2024, are eligible to participate.
