SIGMA CHI FRATERNITY AT AUBURN UNIVERSITY FALL 2023 THE AUBURN SIG Inside 2 Chapter Officers 2 Continuing to Excel 3 Learning About Ourselves and Others 3 New Members A s you well know by now, football is back, and with it, a feeling of what fall is all about. And just like Auburn's football team, our chapter seems to be trending in the appropriate direction! e house corporation remains steadfast in our goal to protect the investment of the house and continue to upgrade and maintain activities for undergraduates and alumni alike. We want everyone to be proud to be a Sigma Chi, and we invite you to come and see the house during your visits to Auburn. It still looks great! Party Barn Upgrades Since our last update, we have tackled many projects and repairs. e deck around the party barn has been totally replaced and upgraded to commercial standards with synthetic deck boards, which should last 20 years or more. e chapter is installing string lights stretching from the party barn to the deck railing, which will create a cool environment and make the deck area more inviting and easier to access. e electrical system and lighting inside the party barn were also given a substantial upgrade. e chapter can now hook up speakers and have band parties without fear of the breakers tripping. We also had the floors refinished throughout the party barn and restroom areas. ey look great and should be easier to keep clean and maintain aer events! Chapter Room Refresh rough a joint effort with the chapter and due to the efforts from House Manager Logan Ferris, we have installed LVT flooring in the chapter room, enhancing the room's appeal and appearance. e members have also added a nicely painted Jordan Standard to one of the walls. Looking to the Future Our scheduled annual meeting at the house is coming up. We will review our long-range maintenance plan and assess the steps already taken and those yet to come for building a new chapter house at 737 W. Magnolia. I hope you can make it to a Sigma Chi event this year. You will really like what you see! Kate Shackelford, daughter of Alan Shackelford '90, and Ellie Korotky, daughter of Jeff Korotky '96, were two of the top five candidates and campaigned for their platforms throughout the week. Ellie won the election and was named 2023 Miss Homecoming! Congratulations to both women.
