Fall 2023 Preserving the Greek experience for future generations of student leaders the Fraternity and Sorority P O L I T I C A L A C T I O N C O M M I T T E E A huge, heartfelt thank-you to everyone reading this message and spending time perusing this newsletter! Your passion for defending and enhancing the fraternal experience is deeply appreciated. Your unwavering commitment to FSPAC helps ensure that Greek organizations remain vibrant and that freedom of association rights, deterrents to hazing, and access to safe and affordable housing are available to all our young collegians today. OUR ROLE IN RELATIONS FSPAC is where it all begins for fraternities and sororities in the government relations process. It's where the relationship-building with elected officials starts. We did exceptionally well in that regard last November, when an impressive 89% of the FSPAC-backed candidates won election to Congress, including many old friends and some new faces. Our candidate contributions for that election were split right at 50/50 between Democrats and Republicans, maintaining our bipartisan stance and garnering advocates on both sides of the aisle. FINDING THE FUNDING Across the 2021-22 election cycle, FSPAC raised just over $750,000 from our generous donors. That's a respectable sum and, as noted above, we put it to good use. Nine months into the 2023-24 cycle, we have already brought in more than $606,000 in donations and pledges. Elections have become dramatically more expensive, and money is pouring into campaigns at record levels. To remain relevant, FSPAC must up its game to keep pace. We have new initiatives and approaches underway, and with the dampening effects of the COVID pandemic behind us, we are optimistic about our fundraising performance for this year and next. We set a 2023-24 cycle goal to raise $1 million, and thus far, we're well on our way to achieving that! ONGOING ENGAGEMENT In April, fraternities and sororities came together for the first FSPAC Congressional reception and dinner we've been able to hold in Washington, D.C., since the pre-pandemic days of 2019. Joining us that evening were 23 members of Congress, which attests to their belief in the relevance of our key issues and their support for them. Despite this success, we still need additional fraternities and sororities engaged in our efforts and many more donors who recognize, as you do, the vital importance of a voice at the table when our nation's laws are made. But mostly, we need your continuing dedication and engagement. For that, I will be deeply and eternally grateful! Fraternally, Tom Decker, ΔΣΦ Continuing Our Fundraising Success Your Engagement Makes a Difference $900,000 $800,000 $700,000 $600,000 $500,000 $400,000 $300,000 $200,000 $100,000 $1 MILLION GOAL The FSPAC Board of Directors at its October 2023 meeting held in Charlotte, North Carolina.
