The The Tiger Sig Published by the Xi Xi ChaPter alumni assoCiation of sigma Chi fraternity COLUMBIA, MISSOURI FALL 2023 Page 2 • Just Getting Involved | Shaping Our Own Future Page 3 • Seizing New Opportunities | Welcome, New Members G ood news! We've made thrilling progress in the past six months with thanks to your Delta Associate Chapter at Mizzou, your Xi Xi house corp., the Colony Alumni Advisory Committee, and the great resources at Sigma Chi International! This summer, we completed major HVAC update at 500 S. College Avenue under the able direction of Jeff Comparato '84. The entire building was re-piped with copper piping in the ceilings and walls, which were then repaired with new drywall and paint. Although this was costly and required additional financing, it should prevent the past problems that would lead to even more expensive repairs and equipment replacements. Jeff continues to direct all additional maintenance and repair work to keep our Chapter House in good shape—both for our current tenants and for our Chapter when Xi Xi is ready to move back in! We owe Jeff a big round of snaps and our thanks for continuing to manage this workload. The Associate Chapter officers continue to strive for the requirements set out by Sigma Chi International (HQ) to become eligible for reinstallation, including their initiation and rechartering. Most recently, their leadership group attended the Krach Transformational Leaders Workshop, Sigma Chi's premier leadership training workshop; they are currently updating the Chapter's website as well (another requirement). Soon they'll be able to submit a final application to HQ for reinstalment. Consul Tyler Thomas '25 and the exec committee lead the way. During fall recruitment, the associate Chapter signed 10 new pledges for the fall semester. Members emphasized quality over quantity and plan to recruit another class this spring. The Colony Advisory Committee, led by Chapter Advisor Sean McDowell, Theta Iota '21, continues to support these young members and help them move forward in the right way. Co-Chairman Kevin Deptula '01 has played a significant role in leading this group as well. The Xi Xi news is all positive, and the momentum is growing.
