Autumn brings a host of ways to get out and
enjoy cooler weather, indoor entertainment and,
of course, a walk with the zombies. Check out
these options.
Step right up for the 2023 edition of the North Carolina
State Fair. e annual fall celebration opens Oct. 12 and
runs through Oct. 22. Tradition will rule as the fair brings
amusement rides, agricultural and food competitions, game
booths and, of course, that incomparable and inventive fair
food. e fairgrounds are at 1025 Blue Ridge Road in west

Celebrate the magic of cinema at the eighth annual Indigo
Film Fest on Oct. 13-15 in downtown Fayetteville. Opening night will
feature the documentary "Black Barbie," which explores the challenges
and triumphs of Black women as they strive to have their voices
heard. e festival will culminate with people's choice awards voted

e dogwoods aren't in bloom, but the fun is for the Dogwood
Fall Festival, set for Oct. 20-22 at Festival Park downtown. Hayrides,
children's activities and food trucks highlight the festival, capped
with live music and an array of vendor booths. On Oct. 22, a classic

You were dead wrong if you thought you might skip the 12th
annual Zombie Walk and Prom, when the undead of Fayetteville will
make their way down Hay Street to Person Street for some bone-chilling Halloween fun.
e walk will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Oct. 28. Show off your best zombie costume, then roam
the streets to check out food trucks, vendors, artists and other performers. It's all part of
