GAMMA PHI BETA 3 On the Podium for Academics I am excited to announce that Gamma Phi Beta placed third in grades for the spring 2023 semester out of all Panhellenic chapters at KU! This is a huge achievement, and we are celebra ng the outstanding academic efforts of each individual and recognizing this year's many scholarship recipients. We were also very proud last spring when our chapter received the Award of Excellence in all five categories at Sorority/Fraternity Life Awards Night. Philanthropic Success Moonball made its second return to campus since COVID, and the turnout was larger than we could have an cipated. Philanthropy Chairman Lauren Rhodes '21 had the wonderful idea to extend invita ons to everyone on campus (rather than just our Greek community neighbors) for a basketball tournament. Through Lauren's efforts and the help of each Gamma Phi who came out to keep score and coach teams, we raised almost $5,000 for Girls on the Run—a record year in dona ons and campus par cipa on! Recruitment Efforts In other record-breaking news, KU admissions rates for this year have grown 20%, leading to one of the largest groups of young women going through recruitment we have ever seen at more than 1,200 women. Sigma Chapter is blessed to be welcoming 83 new members into our sisterhood, one of the largest pledge classes we have had in a long while! For our graduating seniors, myself included, recruitment is a sentimental time. It is bittersweet to begin saying goodbye to the sisterhood we love so dearly as we gather in the chapter house for one last season of recruiting. It seems every year during recruitment week, friendships between sisters and pledge classes are solidified as we work together to share our passion for the greatest place in Lawrence: 1339 W. Campus Road. We are beyond thrilled to show the new members our love for this sisterhood as we begin new member educa on and prepare for ini a on! Fall Fes vi es We are looking forward to many fun ac vi es, including a retreat, Family Weekend, Homecoming, Dads and Special Guests Weekend, and our fall philanthropy, Grilled Cheese with the GPhi Bs. As I prepare for gradua on and get ready to pass the torch to the next amazing president, I want to say how grateful we are to AHC for all the upgrades to the chapter house. Thank you to all our alumnae for the support I have received over the last two years! It has been a pleasure and an honor to serve this house as president.
