A Good Home, with Good Men, is a Good Investment! Alpha lambda Logos Lambda Chi Alpha • Oregon State University • Summer 2023 F irst, thank you to all the Brothers who have graciously donated to the new chapter house. Second, donor fatigue is very real, and I know that you are constantly getting solicited from so many worthy causes. So why give to Building for our Second Century now? When I was in the chapter house in the early '90s, it was not in great shape: continual leaks over the bowling alley, social room beams flexing to the point we worried about failure during large events, and gross bathrooms. That was 30 years ago, when the house was only 30 years old. Now, imagine the condition after 60 years! Beyond what can be seen–the plumbing, heating, roofing, and structural systems are at the end of their useful life. Despite a failing chapter house, our current chapter is a leader at Oregon State, adding 49 new members this year. We are a dominate force on campus and the chapter continually wins awards nationally. So now is the time to help the chapter move into the next century with a structure that will make us all proud when we visit OSU. With $1.86 million raised, we are much closer than ever to making this a reality. Your pledge will help us reach our Go-to-Build Goal of $2.5 million. Please make your pledge today to be a part of this transformation. Yours in ZAX, Dave Hackett '92-1370 Building Team, Financial Advisor Dave served as High Alpha in 1993-94. He worked for 10 years in public accounting at KPMG where he became a CPA. He spent 17 years at NIKE where he retired recently as a Vice President of Finance and Strategy. Dave married his OSU sweetheart, Amy, an AΧΩ, 23 years ago. They have three children: Audrey (17), Brant (14) and Blake (10). He spends much of his free time coaching baseball, parenting, playing golf, and serving on a couple boards. • Significant, positive impact on young men's lives during their collegiate years and beyond. • ΛXA had the largest recruitment decade in AΛ's history of recruiting in the 2010s, despite a failing chapter house. Young men are joining because of what we offer in terms of fraternal life. • Our chapter produces leaders on campus, in the community, and after graduation. • The new chapter house will meet the needs of OSU students today and tomorrow. • Many chapters are stuck with historic structures and a facility that is built for the needs of earlier generations. • Our location is a gateway to campus. Our 21st century chapter house will welcome students, alumni and guests to OSU. • We anticipate having between 150 to 180 members on campus. • This results in a robust financial model providing housing and gathering spaces— while most importantly providing an outstanding fraternal experience. • ΛXA is a leader on campus, and this new chapter house will ensure that our leadership thrives in our second century! AΛ of ΛXA's legacy will be secured far into our second century at Oregon State University.
