PI KAPPA ALPHA • UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS • FALL 2023 STRONGER THAN EVER AT 103 Texas Pikes Make Our Mark T exas Pikes concluded a great spring 2023 semester, and summer in Austin was busy preparing for fall rush. We were pleased to have five new members in the recent spring class, and we wish our 14 spring graduates all the best as they move into new careers. Our fall new member class numbers 34 men allowing to begin this semester with 133 men at 2400 Leon. Brothers continue to enjoy the new chapter house! As we begin its fourth year of occupancy, we are grateful to the many alumni donors who made our home possible. We are creating new memories and are proud of 103 uninterrupted years of brotherhood and service in the UT Austin community. We were pleased to host Pike International Fraternity's Supreme Council at the house in June during the Council's summer meeting, led by PIKE International President Chris Peterson, University of Florida, Alpha Eta '91. See the photo on Page 2. In July, five brothers traveled to Memphis for the International Fraternity's Thomas C. Tillar Leadership Academy. Texas Pikes joined almost 600 other collegians from around the U.S. and Canada in three days of sessions on chapter management as well as personal leadership classes. Beta Mu received the Scholarship Plate for the 16th consecutive year and was recognized as a ΦΦΚΑ Club Pike Foundation 100% donor chapter. We also received the 100-Man Chapter Award, and our alumni association was recognized as one of the top 20 international operating boards. This fall semester brings our usual mix of academic, brotherhood, social and service events. Our social calendar includes tailgates, our traditional Texas-Oklahoma road trip, the late fall SWAMP Party and several philanthropic projects. Key dates are Parents Weekend on September 29 and 30 and Alumni Day on October 28, when the Beta Mu Legends Awards are presented. We are proud of our academic performance as a chapter. The latest UT Austin grade reports show that we earned a 3.42 GPA this spring. More than one-third of our members had a 3.75 GPA or higher, more than half had 3.5 or higher, and seven brothers earned a 4.0. Texas Pikes typically rank in the top three percent of all 200 Pike chapters in terms of academic performance. The remainder of 2023 promises to be another proud year for us on the UT campus. We look forward to a new school year filled with brotherhood, leadership development, community service, and academic excellence. There has never been a better time to be a brother of Beta Mu. We encourage Pikes, parents and friends to visit us when in Austin. Beta Mu men at the July 2023 Tillar Leadership Academy in Memphis.
