Celebrating heritage
F
or the 45th year, the International Folk Festival
will celebrate the diversity of
the Fayetteville community with
music, dance, food and cultural pride.
The festival, sponsored by the Arts
Council of Fayetteville-Cumberland
County to promote unity and community,
will be held Sept. 22-24 downtown.
Traditional dancers, musicians, artisans,
and food and craft vendors are the
backbone of the festival, which attracts
more than 75,000 visitors during its three-
day run.
The highlight is the Parade of Nations,
which brings together multiple ethnic
groups to share the artistic vibrancy of their
heritage.
Other features include international cuisines
and children's activities.
For the Parade of Nations at 10 a.m. Sept. 23,
more than 30 cultural groups
representing ever y corner
of the globe will gather to
celebrate with music, dance
and colorful costumes.
Live music, dance and
performance exhibitions will
include an array of talent.
