Tiana Wilson, a graduate student at the Uni- versity of Arkansas with a degree in Human Nutrition & Dietetics will discuss the basics of nutrition and healthy eating. DESCRIPTION: In the mid-1960"s two pow- erful Senators from Arkansas and Oklahoma col- laborated to secure federal funding for one of the largest single public work projects that has ever been done in this country. In short, the project, upon completion, allowed loaded barges to move up the Arkansas and Verdigris Rivers, as far as Catoosa Oklahoma. The class will examine, through vintage news coverage and relevant documentation, the skilled work shepherded by these two Sena- tors to ensure that the project was carried out. A detailed summary of the monies spent on this project will be discussed as well as a re- view of the last yearly budget which is now managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. One result is that many apps have been launched that are very effective aids and tools to birders at all levels of experience and interest. Rick Jones, a bird enthusiast, will demon- strate the eBird, Merlin ID and other internet apps currently available to Arkansas birders. Participants should bring their iPhones (Ap- ple or Android) with the eBird and Merlin app installed. *Most of the apps discussed are free to iPhone users.
