Gill Security Systems
Gill Security is a homegrown family business that recently
celebrated its 40th anniversary of protecting families,
homes and businesses. It was a break-in at his father's real
estate office that encouraged founder Dick Gill to get into
the security business. When Gill installed a burglar alarm
as a preventive measure for his dad, he realized he had the
passion and natural skills for protecting personal property.
The company's motto, "Protecting what you can't replace,"
was born on April 1, 1983. A simple alarm system for his
father has grown into a multimillion-dollar business offering
security, cameras and fire protection across Southeastern
North Carolina with its headquarters in Fayetteville. Dick Gill
is the company visionary, and Alan Buffaloe, who joined the
firm in 2009, provides the business acumen that has led the
company to explore new revenue streams based on the latest
in technology. Gill's family members — including his wife,
Mary, and daughters, Mel and Mary Margaret — have pitched
in when needed. Son-in-law Thomas Borkowski specializes
in surveillance systems and is the in-house IT expert. Gill's
granddaughter, Caroline, works on special projects during the
summer. Today, the company employs 40 people, protects
thousands of homes and businesses, and is recognized
for quality customer service, a knowledgeable staff and
competitive prices.
