One of the projects for the 2023 Summer Youth Program was to
make a Rock Snake. The kids had fun fi nding and picking their
own rocks and for some of the kids the rocks were no bigger than
their fi sts. The kids were asked what they wanted to name the Rock
Snake and the name MONTEE was chosen.
MONTEE is located in the landscaped area between the Commu-
nity Center Buildings. Thank you Kathy Piva for helping and paint-
ing the head. The 2023 Summer Youth Program kids would like to
invite the Community to add to MONTEE to help him grow. The
Community Center is located at 295 E. Chandler St., Quartzsite.

QUARTZSITE TRIVIA:
Why did the camels turn bluish purple?
ANSWER: The morning of July 4th, 2012, a monsoon storm blew
through Quartzsite. This was the fi rst rain to hit the bronze camels
on the new gateway signs. Maybe it just the patina naturally occur-
ring... OR maybe it was just "Purple Rain, Purple Rain..."
What's up with the purple camels?
Town of Quartzsite Public Works Department has been busy install-
ing new signs all around town this summer. There's even a new sign
for folks coming from Rainbow Acres entering town. Installation
should be complete before the winter season starts.
