CALL CONSUMER CELLULAR 877-401-1130 Cool off at the Senior Center Celebrate Independence Day with the Town of Quartzsite Quartzsite, Arizona- Join the Town of Quartzsite at the Quartzsite Town Park Dance Slab for our annual Independence Day Celebration. The free event will begin at 5:00pm and will include free hot dogs and family friendly activities. Quartzsite PTO will be selling snow cones. At 9:00pm, the event will end with a fi reworks display. For your safety, and the safety of others, no personal fi reworks or sparklers. WHEN: Tuesday, July 4, 2023 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. Hot dogs will be served at 5:15. WHERE: The Dance Slab at Quartzsite Town Park, located at 660 N. Plymouth Ave. FREE ACTIVITIES: Infl atable waterslide, rock painting, horseshoes, and cornhole. The Quartzsite Senior Center will continue to be open each weekday at 9am for socialization and cooling with lunch served at 12 noon. They will be open each weekday until about 3pm or later, if needed. The Senior Center is an offi cial cooling center for the town, so whenever the forecast calls for tem- peratures of 110 degrees or more, the Senior Center will be open, whether it is weekday or weekend. On those days, they will be open from 9am until 7pm. There will be iced tea and cold wa- ter to drink, plus various activities are offered. There are many books to read, jigsaw puzzles to put to- Quartzsite, AZ -Town of Quartzsite voters are being asked to consider a One-Time Override option on the November 7, 2023 ballot. What is a State Imposed Expen- diture Limitation? According to a Town of Quartzsite Press Release, "A limit to the annual expenditures of all Arizona Cities and Towns is based upon a formula with an em- phasis on population. According to the United States Census Bureau, Quartzsite lost 40% of its popu- lation giving us a population of 2,413, which would suggest we lost 1,264 residents. The State Imposed Expenditure Limitation prevents Quartzsite from providing the level of services that you have already paid for." "Proposition 401 will return con- trol of the budget limit to the local level. During the regular meeting of June 13, 2023, Quartzsite Town Council members voted unanimously to approve a speed limit change on Kofa Avenue. The change will be from Cowell Street to W. Quail Trail Street. The speed limit will be reduced from 35 mph to 25 mph. This is effec- tive July 13, 2023. For more information contact Town Hall 928-927- 4333 or visit www.QuartzsiteAZ.org. Speed limit changes on Kofa Ave gether, card games to enjoy, dice games to play, and you may bring your favorite game to play, plus easy chairs are available to nap in. Your pets are welcome if they are well-behaved and in pet carriers. They also have a couple of carriers available, if needed. If the whole town loses power, they have a generator, which will kick in, giving us air conditioning! So come join them to take a break from the heat and cool down and socialize this summer. For more information call the Se- nior Center at 928-927-6496 Proposition 401 "A "No" vote will set the Town's expenditure base at the 1979/1980 level. This option will represent a reduction of 15-20% of the Town's total budget capacity resulting in signifi cant cutbacks in Town ser- vices such as public safety, library services, parks and recreation, and could impact public works opera- tions. "A "Yes" vote will allow the Town of Quartzsite Council to set Town budgets based off of current fi nan- cial conditions for one fi scal year.
