OZARK LIVING • J U LY 2023 • 25 other and the kids having to get a sitter. We want them to know that everyone is welcome here. We are right next to Osage Park, too, so you have access to all of the park amenities." And if you are hungry, the Burg is an onsite German restaurant. "We sublease the kitchen to them," Katie said. "ey serve German pub food with a high-south twist. Burgers, potato pancakes, sausages, plus a great kids menu. ey are open every day except Monday." If German pub food isn't your thing, the Bentonville Brewing Company has three food trucks on the premises. ey currently consist of a Hibachi Asian food truck, a Mexican food truck and a beignet food truck. But the main attraction remains their unique selection of cra beer. Beau Boykin, Katie's husband and co-owner of the brewery, is the head brewer. "Beau did some home brewing before and is essentially self-taught," Katie said. "I think more than anything he is a maker of things. He loves to bake bread from scratch, grow mushrooms and make cheeses and cider. He has a chemistry background and is just a really good balance of artist and scientist. He's always been great at picking out flavors and making them work." e Boykins moved from Fort Collins, Colorado to start the business with their friend Lee Robinson. "In Fort Collins there was a lot of cra beer," Katie said. "I think they have about 20 in that town alone. Some have gone on to national notoriety, same have gone away. So, we came from a big cra beer market where we were able to explore and see other people be really creative. We saw what a fun industry it was so when we got the opportunity to be a part of it we jumped on it." When they moved to Northwest Arkansas, Benton County had just recently become a wet county having been dry for many years. "We were only the second brewery to open up in Bentonville and the third in the County," Katie said. "We knew there was a need for this kind of a business and that people would really support it. We feel the culture of the cra business is aligned with the values of Northwest Arkansas. We felt very confident that we would be successful." Bentonville Brewing Company has indeed become a success. And Katie and Beau invite you to stop by and see for yourself. "If you feel you are not a cra beer fan right now, I encourage you to try it out," Katie said. "I truly believe there is a beer out there for everybody. And the cra brewers are proving that. Cra beer is as nuanced as wine but so much more approachable. I hope everyone gives it a shot."
