What is your favorite part of summer?
Lots of people love 4th of July for the
picnics, fireworks and holiday atmosphere.
Did you know that kids all over the world
have similar holidays? This month we look
at how people around the world celebrate
their own country's birthdays.
Speaking of birthdays, try
out your cooking skills by
cooking up some Pretzel

Dijon Sauce on pages 4-5. The
recipe involves chopping and
using a stove, so be sure you
have an adult join you in the fun.
Remember to keep reading all summer
long. Kids who don't can lose some of their
reading skills over the summer. This is so
common, it has its own name – The
Summer Slide!
Hang on to all of the reading gains you
made at school this past year. All you need
to do is read at least 20 minutes a day!
