t's been a relatively uneventful six months since our last update. Standout events
include our winter meeting on February 4 at Beerhead Bar and Eatery in Elmhurst.
In April, we hosted a successful Alumni Work Weekend. The event featured a Friday
night dinner at Blind Pig Company in downtown Champaign with pizza, drinks, and
darts. On Saturday, we met at the house to spread gravel over the back driveway and take
care of several other minor projects. Additionally, we cataloged and photographed all the
memorabilia at the house for historical and insurance purposes.
The annual meeting and elections for the alumni board of directors will be hosted on
Saturday, June 17, at noon (CDT) via Zoom. You do not have to be present at the
meeting to nominate someone or to run for a position. If you have an interest in running,
have questions about the responsibilities, or wish to nominate someone, see my contact
information below. Nominations for officers may also be submitted in advance to
Secretary Mike Rohan '93 at mprohan@comcast.net.
Now that the capital campaign for the house renovation is wrapping up, please resume
your regular donations to the alumni general fund and complete any outstanding campaign
donations you may have. We rely on donations to cover recurring costs of maintenance,
unexpected repairs, alumni communications, alumni events, academic scholarships, and
future house improvements.
Whether you graduated recently or 30 years ago, there are many opportunities for you
to stay connected with Sigma Phi Delta. As the weather gets warmer, we have several
events where you'll be able to connect with brothers from across the years. When you
attend meetings, run for office, donate to Delta Chapter, or even just text a brother from
your pledge class to tell them about one of these events, you are supporting the legacy
of Delta Chapter for years to come.
