James Lancaster is both a Fayetteville native and a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill. He received his North Carolina funeral service license in 1996 after completing his apprenticeship under Bob Sullivan. After serving area families for more than 25 years, James has become an expert in his field and a mentor in his own right. His kind spirit stands out to both his colleagues and the families he serves. James and his family stay busy with involvement in the community, sports, and church activities. Edward Mercer and his wife, Karen Sullivan Mercer, returned to Karen's hometown of Fayetteville in 2013 to begin working in the family business. Edward graduated from the University of Georgia and became licensed in funeral service in 2014. He prides himself on helping families to navigate the difficult road of funeral arrangements with his calming presence. Edward also has devoted many volunteer hours to coaching high school wrestling and acting as an assistant scoutmaster with Boy Scout Troop 747. FURNITURE John Rose, a Fayetteville area native, has been around the furniture business since childhood. Growing up, he helped his family with their furniture business in Spring Lake. In 2014, he branched out on his own to sell furniture in a booth at the Bragg Blvd Flea Market. He decided to name his store J.R. Furniture because he, his wife, and their three children's initials are all "J.R." J.R. Furniture is a 33,000-square-foot premier retail furniture store located at 3421 Murchison Road that sells name-brand living room, dining room, bedroom, and accent furniture as well as mattresses and more at discount prices. The store offers whole-house packages and special orders to help you furnish the home of your dreams. In October 2021, Rose expanded beyond the furniture business. He purchased all the additional buildings in Murchison Marketplace, apart from the old Walmart building, and is heavily involved in the revitalization of the Murchison Road corridor. Shopping center tenants include Hair Joy, Perfect Nails, Liberty Tax, Black Friday Liquidators, The Salad Box, RDL Therapeutic, and Dreamville Dance Company LLC.
