Yet so hopeful and excited for what we did, and what we plan on for next year! Thanks again for the commu- nity support at all of our events!! Without your support, we are not successful. And, thanks to all the wonderful ladies of ViSaWen, espe- cially our secretary, Judie. We are in the market for another secretary who can be trained over the next season. Monday, 10 am our work day, you don't even have to be a member to check it out. See you in October, unless I get to come "home to Salome" for my summer visit. Nancy Eidsmoe, President GUESTS Members hosted several important GFWC guests in March. For the March social there were two guest speakers. Celene Post, 2022- 2024 GFWC Women's History & Recourse Center Chair and 2016- 2018 GFWC Arizona President. Traveling with her was Bobbi Caley, 2022-2024 GFWC Arizona Envi- ronmental Chair and 1994-1996 GFWC Arizona President. These lovely ladies were followed closely by GFWC Arizona Southwestern District President Jeni O'Callaghan. It was a pleasure to host these lovely ladies. The social ended with a rous- ing game of Left Right Center won by Cathy Church. Cathy donated her winnings to the McMullen Val- ley Food Bank. WINDING DOWN It's that time of year, time for members to slow down and maybe even leave the hot desert for cooler climates. ViSaWen's last business meeting for the 2023 year will be May 4th. Monthly meetings will go dark until September. Fun Monday's will continue through- out the summer, however. So if you need a quilt, RADA cutlery or just want to talk about the Club, mem- bers will be there every Monday, working on projects, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Come by for a visit! CUTLERY Members are present at the Clubhouse, located at 66918 Av- enue C, Salome, AZ, each Monday morning for assistance. If that isn't convenient, you may contact Deb Banks (806-336-2896) or Bev Owens (925-550-1362) any time to place an order. While supplies last, for every $50 of RADA purchased, the buyer can pick out a item from our discon- tinued inventory as a bonus. Contact Deb or Bev and they can help you! MEETING DATE GFWC-AZ Vi- SaWen is open to all women who wish to volunteer in pursuit of help- ing better our community. See any club member for an application. Currently dues are $25 per year and business meetings occur September through May on the fi rst Thursday. Monthly socials begin in October and are normally on the third Thurs- day. Members gather every Monday at 10:00 a.m. to socialize and work on projects throughout the year. Our next regular business meeting is scheduled for May 4, 2023, 1:00 p.m. at our clubhouse, right behind the McMullen Valley Fire Station. STAY SAFE & COOL ~ HAVE A WONDERFUL SUMMER GFWC: "Dedicated to Community Improvement by Enhancing the Lives of Others through Volunteer Service." Judie New, Secretary GFWC Arizona ViSaWen Women's Club updates Salome High School As the school year comes to a close, our baseball and softball teams are wrapping up their seasons with impressive per- formances. Both teams have grown tremendously throughout the season, and their hard work and dedication have paid off. "Way better than last year," said Coach Brooke Stacey. "They are a young- er group of girls but they did a lot better than last year." Similarly, Coach Terry Crown commented, "I think it's been a great season with a lot of growth" In other news, the school's art students recently embarked on a photo hike in Sedona as part of a larger trip to Northern Arizona Univer- sity. After touring art facilities and their museum, the group explored the scenic beauty of the area and captured stunning photographs of the red rock formations. "This trip is one of the highlights of the year. The kids always have so much fun and I hope they're making memories that will drive them to try new things on their own after high school," said art teacher Mr. Tapp. One of the participants, Roland Randall, summed up the trip by saying, "It was a great time, a lot of fun, the hike was beautiful and the view was phenom- enal." As the end of the school year approaches, our students are gearing up for prom, which will take place on the 28th of April. This year's theme is "Red Carpet," and the event promises to be a glamorous and exciting evening for all attendees. The junior class has been working hard and everyone is excited to see what they have in store for us all! Finally, the school's graduating seniors are preparing for their commencement ceremony on May 13th at 6 pm. This event marks the culmination of their high school careers and the beginning of their next chapter. "Graduation is bittersweet," said student body president Juan Ruelas. "These four years fl ew by fast." If you are in- terested in showing your support for our graduation seniors we'd love to see you in the gym on the 13th!
