2 T he 2022-23 academic year has proven to be a year of growth and development for Eta Chapter. Our members are living in the newly remodeled chapter house for the first time since the spring of 2020, and a reinvigorated spirit has been applied to daily life and chapter operations. MAMA NANCY This spirit has exponentially increased with the addition of Nancy McRight in the position of House Director. Mama Nancy displays an unparalleled love for the members of Sigma Chi and was recently celebrated by the University of Mississippi Interfraternity Council as House Director of the Year. PARENTS' WEEKEND We hosted parents on April 14 and 15, and the weekend, full of laughs and enjoyment from all present, included live music on Friday night and a baseball-viewing cookout on Saturday afternoon at the chapter house. The focal point of the weekend, however, was a 5K philanthropy event held early on Saturday morning in honor of 2019 initiate Thomas Mayo. There was an outstanding turnout from active members, parents, and the Oxford community at large with all proceeds going toward the Thomas Mayo Lab, which is partnered with the William McGee Center in Oxford to provide support and resources for those struggling with mental wellness and substance abuse. WELLNESS COMMISSION In addition, Eta Chapter has partnered with What Good Looks Like to provide support for the mental wellness of all members through the formation of our very own Wellness Commission made up of active members and the daily presence of wellness coach and mentor Pat Towery. THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT… …and full of promise! Including 85 new initiates from the fall class, the chapter is full of young men prepared to continue and improve the historic and highly regarded legacy of our fraternity.
