Entries will be only be accepted on Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 10:00 Am to 2:00 Pm. Exhibits must be picked up on Sunday, october 1, 2023 from 1:00 Pm to 3:00 Pm. The Photography Department will consist of an Amateur Division (1) and a Pro Division (2). Each Division has a Black & White Section (1) and a Color Section (2). There are 8 classes in each section. See rules and class descriptions below. ******** Please note changes in Judging for 2023! See rules 6-10 below. ******** Adult Photography Special Awards: Awards for Best of Show Color and Best of Show Black & White in each Division. Awards provided by Oscar's Awards and Engraving. Thank-you! Rules: 1. All photos should be securely attached to matting-weight material or matted, as if preparing to place in a frame. Card stock is too thin / foam board is too thick. NO FRAMES OR GLASS WILL BE ACCEPTED. No hooks, wires or other hanging attachments are needed. Overall dimensions, including matte, must not exceed 11"x14". Preferred entry will be an 8"x10" photo placed in an 11"x14" matte. 2. Exhibitors may enter one (1) photo in each class, for both sections, in one division. Any individual may only submit entries in one division (Amateur or Pro). There is a maximum of 16 entries per exhibitor (8 photos in each section). 3. Photos may be processed and/or printed by a professional lab, but must have been taken by the exhibitor. 4. Photos may be taken with either digital or film camera. 5. All photos must not have been entered in previous years. 6. Judging in both Divisions will be based on the Danish system. Each photo entered will be eligible to be awarded a Blue, Red, or White ribbon, or no ribbon at the judge's discretion, which is final. Judging criteria will include, but is not limited to, appropriateness of subject matter to the class entered, technical quality (sharpness, print quality, presentation), appropriate print size, composition, use of color or contrast, lighting, impact, creativity, and style. Blue ribbons will be awarded to photos that meet or exceed all or most judging criteria. Red ribbons will be awarded to photos that are deficient in meeting some criteria. White ribbons will be awarded to photos that have considerable deficiencies in meeting criteria. The judge may elect not to award a ribbon. 7. Amateur photographers ONLY in the Amateur Division. A photographer is considered an amateur if they have never received compensation for photography work or for a photo. 8. Amateur Division Awards: Each entry (Color and Black and White sections) is eligible to be awarded a Blue, Red, or White ribbon. Premiums: Blue - $2.50, 58 2023 Benton County Fair
