DELTA CHI page 2 B ehind every great brotherhood are individuals working to ensure a positive fraternity experience. For The Delta Chi Fraternity at K-State, Brooke Beyer '96 and Stefan Yates '09 have stepped up to serve as chapter advisors. Delta Chi Connections "At the time I was recruited to be one of the faculty advisors, I was working as an academic advisor in the department of mechanical and nuclear engineering at K-State," Stefan shared. He was recognized by Matthew Bryan '18 as an exceptional advisor, and Matt convinced Stefan to be an academic advisor for the chapter. "I agreed to be initiated later that year and have been involved ever since." Brooke had a more direct connection with the fraternity, joining as an undergraduate after positive interactions with brothers who were recolonizing the chapter at K- State. "Derek Kreifels '96, Jeff Wagner '96, and Todd Stover '96 invited me to come check it out." While college was overwhelming at times, Brooke always had a foundation of support through the brotherhood. I stay in touch with Jon Daugharthy '97, Aaron Otto 98, and Derek Kreifels '96. Supporting Students After earning a Ph.D. at Oklahoma State, Brooke worked as a professor at Virginia Tech until he had an opportunity to return to Manhattan. Based on his own college experience, Brooke took the chance to become a faculty advisor for Delta Chi to ensure the same support for active members that he once had. "Current Delta Chi members are very motivated to succeed and place a high priority on academics," Brooke said. "The current members are coachable and willing to receive help." For Stefan, he is grateful for the opportunity to stay connected with students through Delta Chi. While his work now is different from his previous academic advisor role, Stefan can contribute his knowledge of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) for the betterment of the chapter. He was even asked to join the Fraternity Advisory Committee to work on guidelines and policies for Greek life at K-State. Stefan is glad to have become a brother as an alumnus and to now work with the chapter in a professional capacity. In his spare time, Stefan enjoys K-State sports, the Kansas City Royals, and is a passionate Chiefs fan. He also loves tabletop games, flaunting a collection of 300 board games along with miniature models for Warhammer 40K and Star Wars wargames. Brooke is currently an associate professor of accounting at K-State. He is married to his wife of 26 years, Sarah, and they have seven children. Brooke thanks God for his guidance in growing the family through foster parenting. With such admirable men guiding The Delta Chi Fraternity at K-State, it's clear that our active brothers are in good hands. Brooke with his wife, Sarah, and their seven children. They represent the character qualities of Delta Chi extremely well. When I attend chapter meetings, I see firsthand brotherhood, intentionality in relationships, and focus on academics." –Brooke Beyer '96 M eet Our Facult y A d vi s or s
