Ties to Tau page 2 L ast fall was one to remember at Tau, and we are proud of all we have accomplished. We began the school year back in person for formal recruitment. It was a major shift for all our members, as our senior class was the last group to attend in-person recruitment as freshmen, but our evaluation committee pulled off an incredible recruitment prep week and planned amazing transitions for our members. Being in person was truly an unforgettable experience, as it allowed us to grow closer as sisters, realign our values, connect to Delta Gamma, and remind us why we joined Tau. We welcomed home 44 new members to the Chapter during our birthday party-themed Bid Day filled with hugs, bouncy houses, and lots of laughter. It was so fun to see our new sisters run home to the 305. Our successful recruitment was followed by Continuous Open Bidding, and we welcomed 18 more new members! Soon after recruitment, we held our annual philanthropy event, Slices for Sight, raising $4,904 for Service for Sight. Dads/Dudes Weekend took place in October and was a hit. On Saturday, we watched the Iowa football game and showed our dudes around Iowa City, and on Sunday, we competed in a cornhole tournament and enjoyed a delicious brunch. We had the joy of hosting two semiformals last semester. In September, our wonderful director of special events, Cece Tauer '21, organized our barn-themed semiformal at Wilson's Apple Orchard. We also held a Glow with the Flow semiformal in November, where sisters showed up in their brightest dresses. Some of our most memorable sisterhoods also took place last fall. Our amazing VP programming, Emily Cummings '20, was dedicated to her position of creating unique events to bring the whole Chapter together. We hosted Delta Gamma Games where each member class participated in a set of games to crown the ultimate member class. This was also our way of welcoming our fall COBs to the Chapter! We also participated in pumpkin painting and bowling, and in November, we had our annual Holiday Cozy. Lastly, we transitioned our new Chapter Management Team for the 2023 term. To kick off this spring, we hosted a Rhyme Without Reason date party in January, then a casino-themed semiformal in February. Our VPs of social standards, membership, finance, and Panhellenic attended Anchor Academy in Columbus, Ohio, in February to workshop personal and professional development and network with members across the country. We also continued to grow our Chapter by participating in COB, adding two outstanding women. We are very excited about our Founder's Day brunch on March 5 to celebrate 150 years of Delta Gamma! Our Anchor Splash philanthropy will take place on Wednesday, April 12, at the Iowa Recreational Center from 7-10 p.m. and will include participation from organizations all across campus. Our last event of the semester will be our Moms/Girls Weekend. As this was the first year that has felt normal since COVID-19 began, we are very proud of what this Chapter has fought through and accomplished. We lean on our mentors, advisors, and alumnae, and we work to keep traditions strong. Our history is important to us as we move toward the future, and we anticipate a strong year to come. We can't wait for fall to advance and improve our in-person recruiting skills as we strive to always Do Good.
