2 T he greatest Chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha, Alpha-Phi Zeta, is entering its 106th year of existence. Throughout the years, our Chapter has seen many changes and reached many milestones. One component has always remained consistent: the excellence we search for and instill in our young men. This summer and fall, our recruitment committee worked tirelessly to recruit our freshman associate members to join our brotherhood. Our Chapter total sits at 123, 37 of whom were initiated this January. We currently have a spring associate class consisting of 13 upstanding men. The success and longevity of Alpha-Phi Zeta Chapter is something the active brothers are proud of. In addition to our recruitment success, the new member education process went astonishingly well over the course of the semester. The associate members had a 3.4 overall GPA, which is the highest it has been in years. We continue to promote and support our brothers in academic excellence. Regarding the academic efforts of our entire Chapter, 12 individuals achieved President's List honors (4.0 GPA) and 30 members achieved Dean's List honors (3.5 GPA). Our recent philanthropic efforts have also been outstanding. Our Chapter contributed the third-highest donation of all Lambda Chi Alpha Chapters to support men's health. Recent notable improvements to the house have been instrumental to the functionality and operation of the Chapter altogether. A new, high-end projector was installed in early 2022 and has been a beacon of excitement all year. It has been used in alumni events, away football games, and even associate member education. Another improvement that has been significant is the remodeling of our backyard deck which needed a refresh. My personal favorite addition, which has received great use, is our new "mini tube" furniture. Our worn and outdated cloth couches were replaced with leather recliners and sectionals. As High Zeta and as a Chapter, we would like to thank the House Corporation for their support of us undergraduates. None of these improvements would have been possible without alumni donations. We want to express our gratitude and appreciation for every donation that has improved and sustained the house. We would like to specifically thank Butch Camp, AΦ888 for his hard work as a phenomenal liaison between the active Chapter and the House Corporation. We would also like to extend our appreciation to High Pi Roy Gregg, AΦ881. Their contributions to this Fraternity have been significant and inspiring. We were pleased to host representatives from Lambda Chi Alpha headquarters and the Lambda Chi Alpha Foundation as they recognized Brothers Camp and Gregg and their longtime contributions to our Chapter with the Order of Merit. While their official presentation took place at General Assembly, Brother Tony Brown, AΦ827 arranged to have their presentation also be performed at our Chapter meeting in September. The entire Chapter was able to share the most prestigious award that Lambda Chi Alpha alumni can achieve. Another member of our house that deserves recognition is Susan Fleming, our new house director. Ms. Fleming replaced our long-time house director, Becky Schuler, who recently moved to Gainesville, Florida, to serve as the house director for Kappa Delta. We wish her the best and appreciate all she has done during her time here. In closing, we will continue to strive to grow our Chapter and develop great young men to continue to make Alpha-Phi Zeta proud. In Z.A.X., Scott Johnston, AΦ1963 High Alpha MAKING OUR MAKING OUR BROTHERHOOD PROUD BROTHERHOOD PROUD Alpha-Phi Zeta Remains at the Forefront of Excellence Thank you to Philanthropy Chairman Parker Yuchinski, AΦ1973 for organizing Alpha Phi Zeta's annual canned food drive for Tuscaloosa Soup Kitchen. Together, our Chapter was able to donate over 350 canned food items. Roy Gregg, AΦ881 and Butch Camp, AΦ888 receive the Order of Merit award at the 59th National General Assembly and Stead Leadership Conference in July 2022. We are grateful for everything they have done for our Chapter and congratulate them for receiving such a prestigious award.
