GFWC Arizona ViSaWen Women's Club updates HELLO FROM THE PRESIDENT Whew, what a busy, busy season we have had so far with all our events and report writing. For the next bit of time, we can fi gure out where to go next! We plan to have a visitor for our socials in March, which is slated for Wednesday, March 15th , to accommodate our speaker. In the future we plan magic for our next winter Bazaar, and workshops on bread making and quilt block dem- onstrations. We have many skilled and talented ladies I can't wait to exploit!! Talent-wise that is. Join us for a fun fi lled day. Nancy Eidsmoe, President ANNUAL REPORTS Although busy conducting fund- raisers in January, members settled down for some serious creative writ- ing. Each year GFWC (General Fed- eration of Women's Clubs) asks state and local clubs to complete reports on what clubs have done over the past year. This our time to tout our club with everything that has been accomplished during the past year. Every report should explain 'who, what, when, where, why and how'. Each one of our events is reportable in one and sometimes more catego- ries. And there's LOTS of categories reports can fall into. Take for ex- ample our monthly socials. First of all they are considered Membership as it's something we do to keep our membership interested. Then, if there's a Done-In-A-Day project at the social, like collecting nonperish- able food items for the food bank, that goes under Health & Wellness. Now, let's complicate it further, let's add a speaker. The speaker's time could be reported under Leader- ship, depending on the subject. So, each January Program Chairs sit down and create a short paragraph bragging up our club's achieve- ments. These reports are written, statistics gathered and then sent off to our GFWC-AZ State Program Chair and GFWC-AZ Southwestern District. At the spring conventions all the reports have been reviewed by judges at both levels and award certifi cates presented. ViSaWen has always represented GFWC well. SPRING FLING The Arizona Outback Spring Fling & Poker Run was held February 18th at Centennial Community Cen- ter. The Women's Club loaded up tables, chairs, ViSaWen pamphlets - with membership applications, and our 2023 quilt for which one lucky ticket holder was able to take home. Luci Sullivan was this year's winner. Members would like to thank every- one who purchased tickets which supports our efforts to enhance our communities. Proceeds from the sale of tickets will go toward our 2024 Community Grant Program. GUESTS Members welcomed the Salome Elementary School student coun- cil in January. The kids presented ViSaWen with a plaque, signed by all 110 students, showing their appreciation for all the ways the Women's Club supports school pro- grams. Then, at our February so- cial, GFWC-AZ Judy Isaacson, Ca- nine Companions for Independence Chair, brought a special guest, Jane with her hearing dog, Vanna, and two assistants, GFWC-AZ Leader- ship Chair Suzanne Blomme and past GFWC-AZ President Luanne Davis. Members raised $147 toward the CCI program including a club donation. WELCOME NEW MEMBER Donna Rogers is our newest mem- ber. Yeah, Donna, welcome to the club. We're glad to have you. Donna is outgoing, ALWAYS happy and loves to sew. Boy, is she in the right organization! Members will be con- sidering the application of another lady at their March meeting. CUTLERY Members are present at the Club- house, located at 66918 Avenue C, Salome, AZ, each Monday morning for assistance. If that isn't conve- nient, you may contact Deb Banks (806-336-2896) or Bev Owens (925-550-1362) any time to place an order. MEETING DATES GFWC-AZ ViSaWen is open to all women who wish to volunteer in pursuit of helping better our com- munity. See any club member for an application.
