At the February 28, 2023 Council Meeting, Alberta Martin pre- sented a painting to Town Hall. Mayor Norm Simpson accepted the gift. Martin is a snowbird from Canada who has recently discovered one of the more unique features on one of the sides of the mountain commonly known as the Sleeping Indian, southeast of town. Alberta said at the presentation, "It's probably been there for thousands of years hiding in plain sight. Some people say they heard about it, but I have never seen it. It can be seen from the west side of town from Loves, Carl's Jr., driving south on 95 and from several other locations. The inscription and dedication written on the back of the painting reads, "While camping at the La Posa South LTVA our neighbor Steven told us about a horse on the face of the east mountain. It took weeks before we found it; we were looking too early in the day. In the afternoon when the sun was in the western sky the horse appeared. It is at its brightest during the "golden hour" only to disappear again after the sun sets. We call it Running Horse. Every time we look up and see this natural wonder we are truly moved. I painted this oil painting to present to the Town of Quartzsite, Arizona with my permission to reproduce it and share this magical attraction to all who seek it. Donnie and Alberta Martin are from Sarnia, Ontario Canada. Painting donated to Town Hall | S - # 1 RV Channel RVerTV.tv Email: rvertv@gmail.com # 1 RV Channel
