A SLICE OF PI 2 H ello, my name is Lizzy Kenes '20, and I have the privilege of serving as the president of Pi Chapter for 2023. I am from Orland Park, Illinois, and I have loved being able to call Gamma Phi my home since fall 2020. As I begin my term as president, I am grateful to my sisters who have taught me how to be a better woman, friend, and leader, and who continue to inspire me. These women are truly amazing and continue to demonstrate that in and out of the classroom! Leaders on Campus… At Pi, we had a very successful fall semester. We had four members tapped into Omicron Delta Kappa, a senior honor society on campus: Reegan Stocker '20, LeAnne Bugay '21, Hailey Olberding '21, and Sophie Thomas '21. We also had five sisters accepted into Order of Omega, the Greek honor society: Sutton Sojka '20, Elizabeth Anderson '21, LeAnne Bugay '21, Ellie Higgins '21, and Madeline Pelton '21. In terms of campus involvement, you can find a Gamma Phi almost anywhere you look: • Emily Hatterman '19, Kate Johnson '19, and Christine Trinh '20 served on Homecoming court, and our very own Emily Hatterman was crowned Homecoming Queen. • LeAnne Bugay was elected and is serving on the Panhellenic Executive Team. • Hunter Thomas '19, Lizzy Kenes '20, and Kaitlin Mack '20 were chosen as TAs for the NHRI Leadership class. • Ashton Sandman '19, Jadyn Brooks '20, Elizabeth Clay '20, Molly Foster '20, Lizzy Kenes '20, and Bethany Barnwell '21 serve on the executive council for UNL's Dance Marathon. • Allison Walbrecht '22 won the UNL Center for Entrepreneurship Quick Pitch contest. The members of Pi Chapter are beyond extraordinary and continue to push the bounds of what is possible! …in Academics… To cap off the wonderful scholastic achievement, we achieved a chapter GPA of 3.76 in the fall! In addition, 67 of our members achieved a GPA of 4.0. We are so proud of the academic dedication of each member and cannot wait to continue pursuing academic excellence throughout this semester. …and in the Community! Gamma Phi has remained busy with community involvement. We not only hosted our annual Scoops for Schools philanthropy with FarmHouse Fraternity, which benefited Lincoln Lighthouse, but we also hosted our first-ever Carnival philanthropy with Alpha Gamma Sigma. This event raised money for Girls on the Run and Bryan Health Center. We were thrilled to support our four Girls on the Run coaches and all the girls running their first in-person 5K in three years! Spring 2023 Plans This semester, we are looking forward to initiating our spring continuous open bidding members, hosting our annual Moonball philanthropy, and attending a variety of chapter events. We will also be celebrating our seniors, of course! As we move forward in the semester, we are leading with our vision to promote inclusion and engagement in all chapter areas to foster sisterhood, encourage innovation, and positively impact membership experience and lifelong dedication. We are thrilled for what the next few months will bring for our chapter and are always so appreciative of the love and support from our alumnae.
