T22 WHATS UP! February 5 - 11, 2023 The Late Show With Stephen Colbert With all of the problems in the world, Fox News remains laser focused on the big issue: M&M's have gone woke. First of all, no they haven't. Second, if any candy is woke, isn't it the one that tells you to "Taste the rainbow?" Back in November, Biden's law- yers found the government ma- terial while closing out an of- fice at a think tank called the "Penn Biden Center," named no doubt after the close relation- ship between Biden and "Gos- sip Girl" heartthrob Penn Badgley. Details are still com- ing out, we don't know how the documents ended up there, and it's unclear what they pertain to, but given Biden's age, I as- sume it's the Spanish-American War and the digging of the Pan- ama Canal. The Republican House majori- ty is up and running and they're ready to achieve their wildest dreams which, apparently, is hanging out with Fox News an- chor and last ham cube left of the salad bar: Sean Hannity. The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Today [Jan. 11], New York Re- publicans called on Congress- man George Santos to resign, and Santos responded, saying he won't. But since it's Santos, that means he will, maybe. San- tos said he's not a quitter, and he proved it at the '92 Olym- pics, where he won five gold medals. A second batch of classified documents were found at Pres- ident Biden's home in Dela- ware. Good Lord. Apparently, presidents lose classified docu- ments the way we lose AirPods. It's getting crazy. Now instead of quarters, Biden's finding classified documents behind kids' ears. Jimmy Kimmel Live! I'm exhausted by all these in- vestigations. If I was watching this on Netflix, this would be the part where I skipped to the end credits to the part where they explain that the bad guy is nine years into a 30-year prison sentence now. According to some new research from health-care agencies here in California, cannabis-related emergency room visits have sky- rocketed, especially among se- nior citizens, since it became le- gal for recreational use. One of the reasons that they cite is older people are used to pot from when they were young, and when they try the weed that they grow today it hits hard. It's like if the last movie you saw was star- ring Humphrey Bogart and then you walked into "Avatar 2." May also have something to do with the fact that weed gummies look a lot like fiber gummies now. Anyway, if you see Meemaw driving a rascal in circles call 911. Late Night with Seth Meyers The House yesterday [Jan. 9] approved a set of rules that will weaken Speaker Kevin McCar- thy's powers. Really? How could they possibly make him any weaker? They're already treating him like a substitute teacher on the last day of school. Are they going to make him wear the "Kick me" sign on the front? President Biden said yester- day [Jan. 10] that he was sur- prised by the news that classi- fied documents were found in his old think tank office, and added he wasn't sure what was in the files. Ah, yes, the ol' "grandpa caught shoplifting" maneuver. Russian President Vladimir Pu- tin announced yesterday [Jan. 11] that he has demoted the top military commander in Ukraine and brought in a re- placement. But you know what they say: every time God closes a door, Putin opens a fourth- storey window. The Late Late Show With James Corden M&Ms has released a limited- edition candy bag which fea- tures an all-female set of char- acters. The characters are up- side down to "celebrate women everywhere who are flipping the status quo." ... I gotta say, Ruth Bader Ginsberg would be proud, wouldn't she? LATE LAUGHS BY MICHELLE ROSE TV Media Over in a 'Flash': As the CW's "The Flash" kicks off its ninth and final season this Wednesday, Feb. 8, fans are gear- ing up for some last twists, stor- yline endings and star appear- ances during the series' final run. One of the biggest pieces of news that had fans buzzing last month is that Canadian actor Stephen Amell, who effectively launched The CW's Arrowverse with his eight-season run as Green Arrow (and alter ego Oli- ver Queen) in "Arrow," is set to make a guest appearance in Epi- sode 909 of "The Flash." This won't be the first time Amell has appeared in "The Flash" — his vigilante archer Ol- iver Queen has popped up in eight episodes so far — but given the series is now ending, it looks to be his last. "As soon as our final season was announced, we knew we wanted Stephen to come back and reprise his iconic role as Oli- ver Queen," executive producer Eric Wallace ("Teen Wolf") said in a statement. "After all, it was Oliver who originally launched Barry Allen [played by Grant Gustin, "90210"] on his heroic path. That's why everyone on Team Flash felt so strongly that it was important to create a full- circle moment with Oliver's re- turn in the final season of 'The Flash.' The result is an epic-yet- emotional episode we hope Ar- rowverse fans will enjoy. It's all to say 'thank you' to everyone for watching and supporting our show throughout nine wonder- ful years. We absolutely cannot wait for everyone to see Grant and Stephen saving the world to- gether again. And yes, there will be thrills, chills and tears." So, it's official: viewers will get to see Barry Allen team up with Oliver Queen one last time this season. And they can expect to see a few more familiar faces over the coming weeks/months: David Ramsey ("Dexter") will also reprise his role as John Dig- gle/Spartan, as will Keiynan Lonsdale ("Love, Simon," 2018) as Wally West/Kid Flash, Send- hil Ramamurthy ("Heroes") as Ramsey Rosso/Bloodwork, "Su- pergirl's" Nicole Maines as Nia Nal/Dreamer and "Batwoman" actress Javicia Leslie as Red Death. 'Uncoupled' cancelled: An- other case of conscious uncou- pling in the TV world, perhaps? Netflix has declined to renew "Uncoupled," the rom-com from Darren Star ("Emily in Paris") and Jeffrey Richman ("Modern Family"). That means the series starring Neil Patrick Harris ("How I Met Your Mother") is effectively done after just one season. "Uncoupled" centred on Har- ris' character, Michael Lawson, a successful real estate agent who seemingly had it all — until his partner of 17 years unexpectedly leaves him on the eve of his 50th birthday. The series follows Mi- chael as he confronts the reality of losing the person he believed was his soulmate, and his sud- den status as a single gay man in New York City. Tisha Campbell ("Martin"), Brooks Ashmanskas ("Julie & Julia," 2009), Emerson Brooks ("The Last Ship") and Marcia Gay Harden ("So Help Me Todd") also starred in the se- ries. Apparently, Netflix's cancel- lation of "Uncoupled" is one breakup that didn't catch every- one by surprise — at least, not to industry analysts. According to trade papers such as The Hollywood Reporter, "Uncou- pled" only registered on Netf- lix's weekly Top 10 ranking the week it came out (it premiered on July 29, 2022), and it didn't seem to make waves in the weeks that followed, either. Deadline also reported that there was speculation late last year that producer MTV Enter- tainment Studios was looking to move the series to a Para- mount Global network, such as Showtime. But a new home doesn't appear to be in the cards — not at the time of writ- ing, anyway. 'Second' Hulu series: Ac- tress Emma Roberts had a busy year in 2022 and she's undoubt- edly trying to keep that momen- tum going. Coming off the 2022 films "Abandoned" and "About Fate," the "American Horror Story" alum leads the star-studded cast of the rom-com "Maybe I Do," which was recently re- leased in theaters. But Roberts has a few more acting projects in pre-produc- tion right now, including Mar- vel film "Madame Webb," due out in 2024. She's also boarded a new Hulu series as both actress and producer, and it marks a re- teaming with fellow "Tell Me Lies" co-producer, Meaghan Oppenheimer. Their new project, "Second Wife," is being described as a dark comedy. It follows Sasha (Roberts), who is coming off a recent breakup and has decided to start over in London, where she quickly falls for divorced fa- ther Jacob, played by Welsh ac- tor Tom Ellis ("Lucifer"). They impulsively decide to get mar- ried, and that's where it starts getting complicated as they re- alize they don't know each oth- er quite as well as they thought they did. Roberts comes to this project via her book club-turned-pro- duction company, Belletrist TV, which signed a first-look deal with Hulu back in 2020 and fo- cuses on adapting books for television — books such as Car- ola Lovering's "Tell Me Lies," which made the leap to the small screen last September. The series has since been re- newed for a second season. Stephen Amell will appear in an upcoming episode of "The Flash" STARS ON SCREEN
