Brothers Reunite for a Day of Fun
A GOLF OUTING TO REMEMBER
I
llinois Betas old(er) and young gathered on September 10, 2022, for the 40th annual
Phi Alpha Golf Outing (PAGO). Alumni from the '70s and '80s were joined by 18
collegiate members on a beautiful day at the Lake of the Woods course in Mahomet,
Illinois. The winners of the 18-hole, scramble event were Ed Hansen '87, Jon Theeke
'87, and Dave Erickson '86 from the class of 1987. Brother Erickson canned a 25-foot
putt on the 18th hole to complete an 8 under par round for the group.
Following the golf outing, the participants returned to 211 E. Daniel for a barbecue
dinner and post-round celebration and awards ceremony. The alumni, as always,
impressed the chapter members with their singing ability and the variety of Illinois Beta's
classic songs. On Saturday, the alumni were happy to be a part of the Fighting Illini
football resurgence, witnessing a 24-3 revenge victory against the University of Virginia.
Thanks to the Illinois Beta Alumni Association and the PAGO committee for another
great outing. Special thanks to brothers Drew Maytum '25 and Ty Siefert '25 for
their work in recruiting and organizing the chapter's golfers and to Illinois Beta House
Director Carol Forest-Gookool for her invaluable assistance with the evening's dinner
and festivities.
