Clear Mountain View Music Festival AUGUST 22-25 Many of you, most likely, heard about or either visited the 1st Annual Clear Mountain View Music Festival last August. If you did visit I hope that the event was the experience that you had expected, plus DAVID ELLIOTT more. The festival was a huge success in the eyes of many people, especially the businesses that were able to capture some of the estimated $261,000 the event's visitors spent in our area. From the beginning the festival was part of a vision for the future, not a one time profitable event, and I'm very happy with my investment. I took off work for almost a week, for rest, after completing our mission. It was then that I began to remember all the posi- tive feedback I had received from the musicians and attendees. Acoustic Syndicate's Bryon McMurry had quoted to my dad and I, after the band's four hour performance to close the first of many more CMVMFs, "I want you both to know that the Elliott Family Farm venue is the best layout for a music festival that I've played in my twenty plus years touring the country." Dad and I could only say, "Thank you". I guess it came as a shock to the both of us to hear such a compliment from such a seasoned musician. The single week off is all I could stand. I had to return to my mission of creating another International Music Festival in the Foothills of NC that would support many local businesses and provide hope to many charities in need of assistance. After a year's worth of enduring the intense work, my body needed much more rest than a week. So, I began to focus on the business end of the music industry. Knowing that if I was going to continue the event into the future, I wanted to learn Sponsored By: 2013 Remaining Thursday Dates 5:30-8:30 p.m. Court Square, Uptown Shelby • August 15 THE OCEAN BOULEVARD BAND Classic Beach traditions for dancing • August 29 DIRTY GRASS SOUL Alternative Country w/hint Of Bluegrass • Sept. 5 Star Stage and Sound TATER FAMILY TRAVELLING CIRCUS High-Test Hillbilly CRAFT BEER SPOTLIGHT IN THE BEER GARDEN Presented By FOX DISTRIBUTING KEETER THE OCEAN BOULEVARD BAND August 15, 2013 WGWG.org Kids Zone Sponsor DIRTY GRASS SOUL August 29, 2013 TATER FAMILY TRAVELLING CIRCUS September 5, 2013 www.uptownshelby.com or check us out on Facebook.com/uptownshelby (704) 484-3100 all ends of the industry. Not the easiest task for someone who had less than a few months experience on a computer and had never once sent a simple email to anyone. This was a journey in itself for sure. Just imagine being taught how to email correctly by the most elite booking agencies in the country. Hours and hours turned into days and days of studying music and musicians to get the kind of following I was looking for to make the 2nd Annual CMVMF a step ahead of the 1st event. Finally after 5 months of very long days promoting and learning music genre, I was prepared to release the lineup I had diligently worked to render. Not only was I prepared to release a lineup for the music festival in Feb. I had been able to arrange another amazing event that has the potential of bringing another estimated 3/4 million dollars in revenue to the small town of Polkville and the surrounding area. All of this came about because of "Huntin the World Southern Styles" host Ken Cobb. I had the opportunity to meet Ken after his brother visited our farm. Wes Cobb had told me when we first met that his brother was the host of a hunting show I'd been a fan of for many years. I remember thinking surely not, but went right along with him and said "I would love to meet him sometime". No problem Wes said: "Ken would love it here" . A week later Wes calls me up and says that he and his brother are coming my way. I sure was excited to get to meet someone I had watched on TV and admired for years. When they arrived I was kind of nervous. I think maybe Wes had already been filling him in on a lot of things because he was as nervous as I was when we first met. No more than a week after meeting Ken, I got a phone call from him asking if I would be interested in hosting a National Archery Event on our farm. Without hesitation I replied "absolutely", knowing if he was involved it was going to be something incredible. What had actually happened was a brand new archery event was starting up and venturing away from the most popular states, Florida and Georgia. The events were set up to sustain six locations across the country that shooters, anywhere in the country, could visit at least one of the six within a thousand mile radius of their homes. The only stipulation to hosting the event was there had to be some extensive work done in a short period of time. The event had already been planned to take place at a location in NC that ended up being unavailable. All of the owners and sponsors wanted to keep the event in NC, if possible, and the Elliott Family Farm was open. We put our heads together, as a family, and decided that we would attempt the tremendous amount of work needed. The Regions Archery Bow Hunters Pro/Am tour was a huge success, bringing hundreds of archers in from 16 different states across the country, all booking local hotels for the weekend, plus, all the sponsors and vendors who have traveled the tournament circuit for over 20 years. Many said: "Elliott Family Farms was the single best venue they had visited in all their years traveling the circuit". I learned a lesson about life and helping others during that event. "I've always believed that if you apply yourself to something that helps others the Lord will provide for you in return". I say this because I know if I hadn't had the archery event John Boy, from the John Boy and Billy Morning Radio Show, would have never visited our family farm. John Boy's response , when asked what he thought about the farm, was "WOW! WOW! WOW!" That's about all he would say as we made our laps around the farm, as I explained what types of events we do here year round. He told me that day that he was "all in" at Elliott Family Farms for the future. He asked me to come down to Charlotte and sit in with him on the Morning Show and tell about our farm to all his listeners, which reaches more than 170 radio stations syndicates across the country . To hear the 5 minute interview or for more event and ticket information visit us at either of our websites: www.elliottfamilyfarm.com or www.clearmountainviewmusicfestival.com All I can say about everything that has taken place since the week after our last music festival is more than words can explain! What an eventful and fulfilling year at Elliott Family Farms. Hope to see all of you here for our 2nd Annual Clear Mountain View Music Festival August 22nd-25th. Best, David Elliott
