Friends of the Quartzsite Food Bank update The theme of this issue is BELIEVE THERE IS GOOD IN THE WORLD. We were certainly blessed with the absolutely amaz- ing volunteers that helped with our many outreach events held in December. Thank you, Bell Ringers; Cookie, Jan, Lisa, Margaret, Sherrie, Sheryl, and money counters Bill, Faye, and Holly and those that donated to the Red Kettle Campaign. Thank you, thank you so much to all our Angel Shoppers that bought clothing, toys, book, etc. for our Angel Tree children. Thanks Elfi e Jan and her assistant Elf Sandi that wrapped and organized the gifts. Thanks Firefi ghter Savannah for assigning numbers to each family by location for distribution. We had an awesome delivery by the Brotherhood of Rogue Motorcycle Club. See picture. They picked up large boxes full of new toys and gifts from town businesses and RV parks. They were escorted by Quartzsite Fire Department that helped with the unloading of these donations. We have been blessed with the use of both QPD Command Trailer and the QFD Trailer so that our workers had a place work during the holiday season. Thanks, extended to Jack, Allan, and Bob that help with the event set up and dedicated Jack that came back early the next day to help with all the shelfi ng, tubs, and racks that needed to be sorted. Our Mr. Santa and Mrs. were so perfect in their roles. Many folks and ex- cited children were so happy to talk to Santa. We did have three dogs and their masters that sat with Santa, too. It was picture perfect for all! Our Salvation Army volunteer Elves and the guys and gals from the MC Club were amazing Santa Elves. I think the fi nal count was near 90 chil- dren that got pictures with Santa and "shopped" with an elf to pick out gifts of their choice. It was a very touching day that showed the true meaning of Christmas for all of us. Penny and her associates again from Parent's Teachers had lots of fun items for kids and their parents. Our traffi c was directed for this drive-in event by fi ve of the Desert Amateur Radio Club members. This was their fi rst year helping and they certainly did a great job with keeping fl ow of parking and directing families when it was their turn to come and see San- ta. Thank you all! We always have at home jobs for those that wish to help at home. We always have bags to lay out for appreciative Clerk Holly, simple sew repair items, cut, and staple items, etc. Let me know if you would like to be con- tacted for this assistance. Thanks Faye and Laura for helping. Please understand that our building has no windows, no air exchange ven- tilation, our aisles are tight, and we have many senior volunteers with health concerns, we will continue to require a face covering, for both us and our amazing shoppers. We will follow the local health department recommen- dation; "when indoors wear a mask". We appreciate your understanding.
