CityViewNC.com | 5 EDITOR'S CORNER New year brings new opportunities BY LORRY WILLIAMS Contact Lorry Williams at lwilliams@cityviewnc.com or at 910-423-6500. Lorry I t's a new year, and for many, that means resolutions. Lose weight. Exercise more. Spend more time with friends and family. We start out with good intentions and may be able to stick with our intended resolution for several weeks before we resolve that this is the last year for resolutions. Sound familiar? e theme for this month's magazine is new year, new you. You'll find tips for taking a holistic approach to health and wellness. And yes, it's OK to make yourself a priority. It's also OK to celebrate small victories, which is something I've been working on over the past year. inking about trying something new? Maybe taking that cooking class or learning how to take more professional photos? Be bold and go for it. You'll meet several people in the community who tried a new hobby, learned from the setbacks and kept pushing forward. "I never understood people who avoid failing,'' says Michael Wiggins, who discovered a talent for cooking. "Failing is fantastic when you learn from it.'' You'll also meet Mark Sorrells, who takes over as president of Fayetteville Technical Community College this month. He grew up learning the value of hard work at an early age. It's something that has served him well throughout his life. Happy new year; let's make it a good one! Mark Sorrells talks with a student at FTCC's Spring Fling in April.
