8 www.DesertMessenger.com December 21, 2022 The Salvation Army happenings A reminder about our Annual Santa Event on Friday, Decem- ber 23, 2022., from 9:00AM to 1:00PM, here outside at Salvation Army. Looks like we could use more volunteers for this event. We really will need enabled folks on Thursday the 22nd for setup assistance. Please call me ASAP. Thanks so much. We ask that families remain in their vehicle until we signal you to fi rst get picture with Santa and then the children will be escorted by TSA elves into Santa's Workshop area. We have been blessed by the Brotherhood Rogue Motorcycle Club-Camel Rocks Chapter with so many new toys collected around town for the children to make their selections. These were delivered to us on December 16th. Thank you to all that put toys in their Toy Boxes around our town and the RV parks and business that participated this year, too. We will also have back- packs, school supplies, gently used clothing and books. Penny from Parents as Teachers will also be here with an always fun activity packet. A big shoutout of appreciation to those volunteers that delivered Thanksgiving dinners to our local homebound folks to enjoy. Thanks Bill, Hayden, Mike and his dad, and the amazing Miss Brenda and her awesome team at Coyote Fresh Foods. We delivered thirty-four hot dinners with all the trimmings and even pumpkin pie with whip cream to top it off. We had many very hap- py and appreciative folks. Our Angel shoppers certainly earned their wings. A humongous thank you to you all. Packages will be delivered or picked up this week. Thanks Elf Jan and her assistant Sandi for all the wrapping of these gifts, too. Thanks Firefi ghter Savan- nah for again helping with organiz- ing the deliveries. We will be closed the after Christ- mas with the installation of our pri- vacy fencing around our porch area. We are looking at being closed Tuesday and Wednesday, Decem- ber 27th and 28th, if all goes as planned. Watch on our Facebook page for any updates. We always have at home jobs for those that wish to help out at home. We always have bags to lay out for appreciative Clerk Holly, simple sew repair items, cut and staple items, etc. Let me know if you would like to be contacted for this assistance. Please understand that our build- ing has no windows, no air exchange ventilation, our aisles are tight, and we have many senior volunteers with health concerns, we will con- tinue to require a face covering, for both us and our amazing shoppers. We will follow the local health de- partment recommendation; "when indoors wear a mask". We appreci- ate your understanding. Christmas is a season of great joy: a time for remembering the past and remembering there is always, always, something to be grateful for. Merry Christmas and blessings for an awesome New Year 2023.
