The woodchipper, located behind the Waste/Water Treatment Plant, should only be used for dumping tree trimmings and other discard- ed vegetation. Illegal dumping of trash, building/construction mate- rial, concrete, and other debris are prohibited. BLM [Bureau of Land Management] has graciously al- lowed us to utilize this land to dis- pose of discarded vegetation. Continuous dumping of prohibited materials will result in the closure of the woodchipper. Please take all other debris and trash to the local or county landfi ll for proper dispos- al. Illegal dumping could result in a fi ne of $500 dollars and/or 30 days in jail. If you have any questions contact QPD at 928-927-6444. It's that time of year to be aware of counterfeit bills around Quartzsite. Business owners should train their employees to examine all bills they receive, $10 and higher. If they be- lieve they are being given counterfeit money they should call the police. The Secret Service offers a down- loadable PDF called Know Your Money that points out key features to look at to determine if a bill is real or fake: https://www.secretservice. gov/data/KnowYourMoney.pdf If you believe you have received counterfeit money, the U.S. Trea- sury advises you to do the following: Do not put yourself in danger. Do not return the bill to the passer. Observe the passer's description – and their companions' descrip- tions – and write down their vehicle license plate numbers if you can. Contact your local police depart- ment or call your local Secret Ser- vice offi ce. Place it inside a protective cover, a plastic bag, or envelope to protect it. Remember, if you are passed a counterfeit bill, you own it. So when accepting cash, it pays to be knowl- edgeable about the crime of coun- terfeiting. Is it fake?
