The election of secretary, treasurer and president-elect was held at the ASBA Annual Business Meeting on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022, in con- junction with the ASBA-ASA An- nual Conference. The elected officers for 2023 include: President-Elect Desiree Fowler, Page USD Treasurer Tadeo De La Hoya, Gadsden ESD Secretary Monica Timberlake, Quartzsite ESD The elected officers will join James Bryce, Solomon ESD and Past-Pres- ident Monica Trejo, Tempe ESD to form the executive committee of the ASBA Board of Directors. Each position is held for a one-year term. The Board of Directors is com- posed of five executive officers that make up the Executive Committee, and 17 County Directors – one for each county in Arizona, with two for Pima and Maricopa Counties due to their higher populations. The chairs of the ASBA Hispanic-Native American Indian Caucus and the ASBA Black Caucus also serve on the board of directors. The Arizona School Boards Asso- ciation is a private, non-profit, non- partisan organization that provides training, leadership and essential services to public school govern- ing boards statewide. More than 240 governing boards, representing nearly 1 million Arizona students, are members of ASBA. Monica Timberlake elected to ASBA board Quartzsite Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism is hosting a Ping Pong Drop Fundraiser on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at high noon following the Hi Jolly Daze Parade at Town Park. Buy your ticket(s) today! Each ticket is $1.00, or 6 tickets for $5, or a dozen (12) tickets for $10.00. All proceeds benefit the Chamber, a non- profit organization that works to build a strong local economy and tourist destination for the Quartzsite area. Buy ticket(s) by 2pm Friday, January 13th for your chance to win prize baskets! We will hoist the Ping Pong Balls 30 feet into the air at Town Park and drop them on a giant, chalk drawn bullseye. The Ping Pong Ball clos- est to the bullseye will win first prize. The Ping Pong Ball farthest from the bullseye will win second prize. All the Ping Pong Balls will be numbered, and for each ticket you buy, you will be given a number corresponding to a ping pong ball. You do not have to be present at the event.
