On Saturday, October 8, more than 350 Omicron alumnae and
friends gathered to officially celebrate Alpha Phi's beautiful, new
Mizzou home. The Dedication and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
energized the crowd, and the significance of the moment was
recognized through remarks by special guests University of
Missouri President Dr. Mun Y. Choi, Vice Chancellor for Student
Affairs Bill Stackman, Curator Robin Wenneker, and Judy Ethell,
ZA '80, who presented a colorful framed scarf from the Alpha Phi
Foundation.
Our partners in the project—Little Dixie Construction and
Hawthorn Bank—were also on hand to take a bow, following
the remarkable 14-month completion of the initial construction
phase. And to set the tone for the day, Mini Marching Mizzou
and our favorite mascot, Truman, brought the "party" to the
reunion celebration for sisters from many generations.
It was a festive event and the perfect opportunity to thank the
many generous donors who are supporting the Sisterhood Begins
at Home campaign to help finance the project cost.
Following the ceremonies, alumnae and guests toured the new
facility, admiring its spacious and contemporary gathering
areas, study rooms, alumnae lounge, and "Phi Beach," which is
