p. 3 Sigma Phi Epsilon Sigma Phi Epsilon T his summer, three Florida Epsilon brothers traveled to Richmond, Virginia, for the Ruck Leadership Institute. At SigEp's landmark leadership program, they spent five days learning leadership principles and how to lead and inspire positive change in their Chapters and beyond. "I will definitely utilize everything I have learned at Ruck to help take Florida Epsilon to new heights. By modeling the way and inspiring others, I hope to be a big reason why people join SigEp," Jake Urowsky '25 said. They were mentored by executive-level alumni mentors and engaged with brothers from across the country. Thanks to the generosity of alumni and donors, brothers like Jake create actionable takeaways to lead their Chapters and grow as individuals for years to come. Ruck Scholars Look to Elevate Florida Epsilon to New Levels D uring the 2022-23 school year, Florida Epsilon is prepared to keep building on our brotherhood's recent success. Through philanthropic and academic efforts, our hard work has paid off so far, but we remain diligent as ever as we strive for greater goals. Last year, Florida Epsilon hosted two notable philanthropy events that accumulated over $12,000. On November 6, 2021, we hosted our inaugural Will Proctor 5K fundraiser, where 100% of the profits went toward the American Brain Trauma Association. We proudly named this philanthropic event after our beloved brother, William Eppes Proctor '21, who exemplified SigEp's principles and was the definition of a Balanced Man. It was a special day as the Florida State community came together and raised over $4,000 for the American Brain Trauma Association, dedicated to providing support services and programs to brain trauma patients and their families as well as funding brain trauma research. To further honor Will, Sigma Phi Epsilon created the Balanced Man Scholarship. This scholarship considers men who embody the principles of Virtue, Diligence, and Brotherly Love. Incoming Florida State freshmen are strongly encouraged to apply, as four $500 scholarships winners are selected every year. We hosted our inaugural SigEp Golf Classic on February 27, 2022. Brothers, alumni, and family members had a blast playng at Southwood Golf Club. We were able to raise over $8,000 during the event, with all proceeds going to the Collegiate Veterans Association at Florida State University. Our Chapter and individual brothers recently received numerous awards, including Chapter of the Year. Florida Epsilon was also proud to claim the Excellence in Recruitment and Retention Award, Living Our Values: Leadership Programming Award, and Culture of Brotherhood Award. Jack Baumann '23 was named IFC Member of the Year, Nick Amaro '23 became IFC Chapter President of the Year, Mike Reynolds '21 won Chapter Advisor of the Year, and Seth Ravenna '22 had the honor of being a Greek Hall of Fame induction. We are proud of our recent accomplishments, and we are excited to see what the rest of 2022-23 has in store for Florida Epsilon.
