(search "Groups") ALUMNI, SHARE YOUR IDEAS W e want to hear your thoughts regarding the future of our chapter. See inside to read about the current status of the house and if you have any comments, ideas, or suggestions moving forward, please email iualphaomicron@gmail.com. THE ORACLE MOVING FORWARD (Continued from page 1) OBSTACLES Our present mortgage lender will not lend us additional money due to occupancy issues since we were empty for two years and then half full for the next few years. We are starting the search to find out if we can source a viable lender. Indiana University rules for us having a live-in facility are quite stringent. We are required to have a live-in advisor to be recognized on campus. After interviewing several graduate students this year, we were turned down by all candidates due to a lack of a proper room for them to reside in. The bulk of the graduate advisor students also want a kitchen in their room, which we could not provide. HOW YOU CAN HELP Our alumni involvement needs to improve. The mentoring of undergraduates by our alumni is life changing for not only the student and alumni, but also for the health of our house membership. The strongest houses on campus have alumni in their houses nearly every week! Thanks to several alumni, we are finding this to be improving as we speak. Our undergraduate students have been operating under a control board through October 1 of this year. That board has now been dissolved, and the international headquarters for Lambda Chi Alpha has now tasked these undergraduates and a few alumni to devise a plan to move forward. That email from the IHQ was forwarded to everyone via our Pennington service. Please let me know if you did not receive this email and we can forward another copy to anyone. PROVIDE YOUR FEEDBACK ON THE SITUATION As I mentioned above, our house will stand empty for this coming school year of 2022-2023. Our undergraduates were upset with this decision, but we thought their safety should come before living in the house. We have many options on how to proceed from here, but we would prefer to listen to alumni and hear their thoughts. We have an email address for your comments: iualphaomicron@gmail.com. We hope you will give us your thoughts on proceeding from here. Expect another Oracle and email blast scheduled for late spring 2023, as we will continue to report back to alumni any progress and ideas on how to proceed. In ZAX, Tony Drake '84
