BY GEORGE DICKIE
On a day when America sits down and gives thanks, Buffalo
Bills fans have cause to be grateful for their football team and
its star quarterback.
Indeed, Josh Allen is at it once again in Western New York,
pulling off exploits that at times seem surreal while leading the
Bills to the top of the AFC East.
One came in Week 5 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, when
less than 90 seconds in he hit wide receiver Gabe Davis on a
98-yard touchdown pass, the longest in Bills history and as
well as the longest scrimmage TD in the first 90 seconds of a
game in NFL history.
But he was far from done. He'd connect with Davis again
on a 62-yard TD pass in the second quarter plus two others
to Stefon Diggs and Khalil Shakir before finishing the half
with 348 yards and four touchdowns. When he was pulled
in the fourth quarter in favor of back-up Case Keenum, his
final stats were 20 of 31
for 424 yards with the four
TDs and one interception in
what turned out to be a 38-3
Buffalo rout. Had he stayed
in, he might have threatened
Norm Van Brocklin's single-
game record of 554 yards set
in 1951.
Allen and the Bills can be
seen in action Thursday, Nov.
24, on CBS, when they visit
the Detroit Lions in the first
of three Thanksgiving Day
NFL contests.
