All of the American Girl Dolls, plus
some new ones, are now available for
checkout from the Children's desk at
Bentonville Public Library.
The dolls are a part of the Library
of Things collection. The Library of
Things Collection offers lots of kits
and items that you can borrow for
fun and exploration.
The library's American Girl Doll
collection includes classic dolls
like Kit, Addy and Molly as well as
modern additions like Luciana and
Benton. There are also five new dolls
that have been added. The five new
dolls are named Corinne, Courtney,
Gabriela, Sarayu and David.
One of the Bentonville Library's Teen Volunteers, Eekshita,
designed the new doll, Sarayu, from scratch. Sarayu loves
cooking, has a backpack and earrings, and is slated to have a
special Diwali outfit included. She is the Library's first Indian
doll available for checkout.
Alongside Sarayu, the Library has another personalized doll:
David. David was created by BPL's Tween
Advisory Board. David loves soccer and
his smart watch. He is also the Library's
first doll who has is differently abled,
sporting a pink hearing aid.
If you would like to check out any of
the American Girls dolls, ask your adult
to visit the Bentonville Public Library's
website and search "American Girl
doll kit." The dolls are very popular,
but you can easily place the doll you
want on hold and get on the list.
Each doll has two outfits that
alternate with each checkout.
The kits come with a unique
bookmark for each outfit that
the patron can keep. They also
each include a book, accessories
and brochure with history from
the dolls' time.
Only one Library of Things item
is allowed per family at a time.
