FALL 2022 The Squirrel's Nest P S I C H A P T E R O F A L P H A G A M M A D E L T A A T T H E U N I V E R S I T Y O F A L A B A M A A Homey Refresh A Homey Refresh T H E S O R O R I T Y H O U S E G E T S A M A K E O V E R W e are thrilled with our latest update at the Alpha Gamma house. With the direction of Joanna Goodman, Gamma Delta, Psi Chapter is enjoying new furnishings and décor in the dining room and foyer. The beautiful chandelier is a Julie Neil design out of New Orleans and provides the perfect welcome to members, alumnae, and visitors. The foyer offers seating areas for members and guests to enjoy. Joanna incorporated pieces from the old house in the design such as the piano, chest, and grandfather clock. Members are enjoying the newer foyer furnishings as well, including a gorgeous new rug, lamps, a leather wingback chair, soft accent chairs, and the foyer table. The area leading to the formal dining room has new wallpaper, lamps, accent table, and ottomans as well. New dining tables have been added, custom built by Ned Grier in Homewood, Alabama. The combination of round and rectangular tables has provided more seating space and allows for members to comfortably enjoy meals and study time together. Seating in the dining room consists of new side and host chairs in soft creams and whites. Marble café-style tables complement the room and offer additional seating. One of the highlights and favorite spots for dining and studying is the beautiful area in the main dining room with a sofa, drapery wall, and special dining room table. This table is from the old chapter room and has been restored with a glass top. It is nice to see members enjoying things both old and new. The annex area offers dining and studying space along with curved banquettes, custom drapery, and a beautiful custom rose bowl sculpture. The dining chairs in this area are so comfortable and functional. Many thanks to Psi Chapter's House Association for these updates. We hope you will stop by to see the house when you are on campus. Loyally, LouLou Mize Tucker '82 Property Advisor I n her first year as a Psi Chapter advisor, Stacey Summerville Ramsay '06 overheard an active sister refer to the sorority house's upstairs den as "The Vortex." "I immediately asked why she called it that, and she said that they always just had," Stacey said. "Little did she know that my pledge sister, Sassy Crowson Gatozzi '06, coined that term when we lived in the house." As undergraduates, their pledge class often felt like sitting in the den together created a space where time and energy did not exist—they could be there, visiting and laughing with one another, having no idea how many hours had passed. "We are all so proud that almost 15 years later, The Vortex is still going strong!" Stacey chose Alpha Gamma Delta because of the comfort and love she felt within the house. "Growing up in Huntsville, I knew how great the chapter was thanks to alumnae like Nancy Richeson Siniard '74." She also had close friends in Psi Chapter, like Camille Caprio Reed '04, who was there for her throughout recruitment. "Those two women are the reason I joined Alpha Gam!" Shaping the Best-Possible Psi Chapter What Stacey Summerville Ramsay '06 Has Learned about Sisterhood and Herself (Continued on page 3) The house's new décor is a real work of art! A showstopping chandelier in the foyer.
