A s Alpha Sigma prepares for a new school year, we are proud of the progress we made throughout the spring. Our brotherhood put in significant effort on all fronts, and you can read about the resulting accomplishments below. Recruitment Chairman Charlie Avendano '23 spearheaded our formal recruitment season for the fall 2022 semester with events such as game night, volleyball, bowling, and more. We put plenty of effort into building a water slide so we could draw more attention to our house and the group of guys living here. We are proud to say we have a class of six great associate members who are set for initiation later this fall. Beyond these six associate members, we have two potential members we believe are highly likely to become associates this following spring. Throughout this semester and the next, we plan to push informal recruitment heavily, as we would like to meet more men fit for Theta Xi and grow this current class. This year, Theta Xi's members have worked hard on two Habitat for Humanity builds, in which multiple brothers took time out of their day to build homes for families in need. We plan to get more men involved with these builds throughout the year. We also did another popsicle sale this year to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis since it worked out so well last year. Following tradition, we have also planned a virtual bingo board as we have done in previous semesters and a virtual Walk MS, where we will be posting links to our Facebook pages and as other social media accounts to raise money and awareness for MS. Finally, we are scheduling a philanthropy week to raise awareness on campus for both Habitat and MS. We celebrated Bradley's Family Weekend with a potluck-style lunch, with attendance from many of the parents of active and associate members. It was great to meet and talk with parents and siblings, and it seems like it was a success again this year. We plan to keep this as a tradition after our two consecutive successful years. Alpha Sigma was awarded two awards at our National Convention. The first was for again receiving accreditation, while the other was for being a benchmark chapter, putting us in the top 20% of all Theta Xi Chapters nationwide. As we look ahead this school year, our chapter hopes to build on these successes and continue to evolve the brotherhood.
