THE NUMBERS Wright, a three-sport
athlete, earned all-state honors despite missing
time last year with an injury by using his dual-
threat abilities to keep defenses guessing last fall. …
He completed 54 of 93 passes for 952 yards with 8
touchdowns. … Wright rushed 117 times for 1,003
yards and 15 touchdowns. … He plays a big role from
his safety position on defense, where he had 34 tackles
and 2 forced fumbles last fall. …His healthiness was a
big driving force for the team's success last year. Ozark
started the season 1-2 then rattled off a 6-game winning
streak to win its third conference title in the past four years.
… Wright rushed 15 times for 197 yards and 5 touchdowns
in a first-round playoff win against Huntsville.
THAT'S WHAT HE SAID "I take a lot of pride in playing
both offense and defense. It means a lot that I have my
coaches' trust to do it. We had some injuries early on last year,
but we had to work through it. We wanted to make it far, so
we had to make it work. We want to keep winning conference
championships. Winning makes everything more fun. We are
excited for the new conference and competition. We want to
make a run to that state championship this year. We'd be the
first to do it at Ozark, so we want to make it happen."
